I leaned forward as I raced through the empty streets on my new Ducati. The reason I moved out of the city was one, to get away from that shit. Two, so I could keep Rosie in a similar environment to Iceland. And three, no traffic.
I was mostly surrounded by mountains and long stretch of either grass or dirt lands and honestly I didn't mind it. This felt like home, not a million buildings and rushing people. It was calm out here. I needed calm.
When I reached my destination, I parked the motorcycle and pulled off my helmet, immediately spotting paps. Now that's one thing that doesn't change.
I pocketed my key before climbing off and walking into the bakery. "Y/n," the owner, Gerry, said with a wide smile. "Back in town so soon?"
"Was just for a few days but I head back out at noon. Got my usual ready?" I asked as I leaned leaned against the counter.
He gave me a look before pulling up the pink box. "Like always." I grabbed it with a grin and slid the box into my backpack before handing him the crisp fifty dollar bill. "And like always I tell you the price is only ten dollars."
"And like always, my tip to you is forty bucks. See you when I see you, Gerry!" I called over my shoulder before walking back outside.
"Hey Y/n." A paparazzi said as I walked towards my bike. "How was Christmas?"
"Pretty good, how was yours?" I asked, sitting on the seat and resting the helmet on my lap.
"Awesome actually. So, Alexa getting along with the kiddos?" I tilted my head and he quickly rephrased his question. "Saw you guys had some fun at the skating rink and you all looked like a happy family.
I slid the key into the ignition with a chuckle. "The kids love her. Have a good day dude." He nodded and backed away but kept recording as I pulled my helmet on and pushed down the visor before kicking up the peg, then starting down the road.
As the wind and the sound of the engine rushed around me, I stood up slightly and looked over at the sun that was now raising in the sky. I knew Alexa was most likely up but Vanessa wasn't. Not with that headache she now had from a fist collision with her nose.
Even I had to admit that was pretty cool. Never did I think Alexa would punch someone, let alone Vanessa. Now that was a plot twist.
I sped down the road before cutting into the long driveway that led to my house. I owned about six acres and I had a nicely built two story with a whole lot of land stretched around it. I wasn't sure what I would do but I knew I definitely wanted to have something fill the space.
I was thinking, yes my Kansas side was coming back out, maybe starting up a little farm. Of course that would be when I was more settled and not touring but.. it'd be nice.
I could have my city house and my farm land. Maybe hire a few workers to tend it while I was gone. I think it would be cool.
After parking in front of the garage, I pulled off my helmet and started to the house.
When I walked in I immediately smelled fresh Pine sol and a soft hum coming from the living room. I turned the corner and smiled as Alexa cleaned the wooden table in the living room, headphones on.
I sat my backpack down before slowly creeping up when she started singing. "I like it better with you, there's nothing that compares to your company."
My smiled widened at her smooth voice enthralling me completely. She was singing my new song. A song I haven't even put out yet. I slid my arms around her waist and she gasped before relaxing when I pulled her headphones down.
