Rosie had the surgery. It was successful, the tumor was no longer in effect. She was sleeping soundlessly now and would be for a few more hours so, though knowing she most likely couldn't hear me, I promised her I'd be back with her favorite breakfast.
"How are you feelinggg?" Alexa said into my ear and I grinned before pushing her back as she giggled. "You don't like me close?"
"Not when your hot ass breath is going into my brain." She smacked my shoulder and I playfully grabbed her waist and pulled her in front of me as I walked like a penguin. "How's your YouTube shit?"
"I just hit like a hundred-"
"A hundred subscribers?" I exclaimed. "That's so cool!" She looked over her shoulder with furrowed eyebrows. "What?"
"One hundred is not special. I meant a hundred K." My eyes seemed to bug out and she leaned back into me with a chuckle. "Yeah, they want me to put my own song out."
"You so should, babe. You'd kill it." I said and kissed her temple. "Actually... I've been meaning to make a feature with someone. Slide me on bae."
"What?" I rolled my eyes and smacked her stomach softly. "Don't talk like you're young. You're almost thirty-"
"No I'm not!" I exclaimed and pushed her away from me, my eyes squinting as she stumbled with a laugh. "I still have five years."
"Mhm, and how many do I have?" I ignored her and kept walking as she backpedaled with a smirk. "What is it? Nine?"
"No that's doesn't count, you're turning twenty two this year." Did that help my case? No. But did it feel right? In the moment, yes.
She chuckled and walked back up to me and wrapped her arms around my waist as I continued to walk. "Mm that means I still have a solid eight years. Have you thought about a retirement plan? I heard there's this really nice golf club-"
"Okay." I shut down and rolled my eyes. "I may be from Kansas but I don't golf." She raised her eyebrows sarcastically and I pulled the back of her ponytail, making her laugh again as her neck craned back. "I don't. Why are you so teasing this morning huh? You know how I deal with brats."
She dragged her arms around my neck and smirked. "Maybe that's why I'm acting like this."
I hummed with raised eyebrows and she hummed back sarcastically. "I don't think you're ready for that babe..." I pecked her forehead before pulling back with a grin. "You'll die."
"Is that a challenge?" I rolled my eyes before pulling back once we reached the breakfast spot.
"You're starting to sound and act exactly like Jaime and it's getting kinda weird." I held the door open for her and she walked in ahead of me before intertwining our fingers and leading me to the line.
"Can I get the breakfast platter?" She asked and I leaned against her head as I nodded. "And a parfait?" I hummed with another nod. "A strawberry açaí-"
"That one you gotta pay for yourself." I joked as I pointed at the menu. "Four dollars for some fruit?"
She smacked her lips before smiling once the cashier came up. "Hi, what can I get you?"
"Hi can I get waffles with strawberries on the side, a breakfast platter with bacon, not sausages. A parfait with granola and- babe what do you want?" She asked and I leaned into her ear as I whispered, 'you'. "Stop, be serious." She said with a giggle.
"Okay um," I looked up at the menu and hummed. "That burrito looks pretty fire. The number three." He nodded and put it in. "You got Rosie's waffles?"
