As soon as my feet touched land, I ran as fast as I ever have through the sand. My mind was on Johann and getting to him as quick as possible.. but I had a solid mile to get home. I knew I had to conjure up those middle school PE runs to get there in less than ten minutes. Because anything... anything could happen in ten minutes.

From the stories I was told, Aron was a vicious, cold hearted drunk. Ever since Johann's mom passed away, his dad drowned himself in drugs and alcohol which resulted in him getting depressed and violent. So when I heard he had a gun, I knew he didn't give two shits about using it.

That very thought gave me the burst of energy to run slightly harder and slightly faster. The only thing apparent to me was who was ahead of me, the sound of my pulse beating in my ears, and my heavy boots slamming against the ground. But all that was a baby sprinkle compared to the waterfall of my thoughts.

After what felt like hours, I made it over the hill and gravity tugged me down the back end of the greenery. I threw off my beanie as I passed by the hut, getting a glimpse inside of the window and all I saw was hands around my boys neck and that's all it took for me to burst into the house, running at Ron at full speed.

His head popped up but I already had my arms around his waist, driving him into the ground harshly. "Who the fuck are you?!" He screamed but all I saw was red.

I raised my fist and slammed it down against his nose, then his eye, then his nose again. I could feel my knuckles giving from the force but I couldn't stop. Every bad thing he did to Johann, I wanted him to feel it here; right now, from me.

"Y/nn stop, please you'll kill him." Johann's voice pulled me from my black out state and I looked down, seeing blood coated on hands that were strangling him. I then let him pull me off of Aron and on the ground. Johann looked at his dad before crouching in front of me. "Are you okay?"

My breathing was heavy as I looked over his bleeding nose and cut eyebrow. "Me? No, you, are you okay?" I took out a bandana from my pocket and held it up to his nose. "Did he.. do anything?" His head shook.

"Just beat me up a bit. I knew you were coming so I tried to keep his mind on beating me instead of shooting me... Thank you for coming." I smiled sadly before pulling him into me, my left hand around his back while my right lightly scratched his tussled hair.

"Of course, Johann. I already told you I'll be here for you, forever." I suddenly heard a click and we both looked up to see his dad woozily pointing the gun at me. "Aron... come on bud, put the gun down."

"No, you're not taking MY son!" He held his head and glared at me. "Not again."

I held Johann behind me as I nodded. "Okay but don't hurt him, let him go and you can.. you can do whatever you need to-"

"Y/n-" I shushed Johann.

Looking back at Aron, his eyes were crazed but also distant. I knew that there was probably a fifty percent chance he would get a shot in but there was a chance he would miss.. fuck. "Here, let him walk out and it'll just be you and me. Deal?" He looked away for a split second in thought and that's when I shoved Johann over the couch, sprinting towards Aron before tackling him to the ground.

I heard the gun shot go off but I was focused on getting it out of his hands, and I did. The gun slid to the other side of the room and as he went to crawl for it, I somehow oddly had a flashback of something Vanessa said during one of our sparring sessions.

'If their back is to you, always go for the neck. It's the quickest way to overpower them'

So as he went for the gun, I hopped on his back and wrapped my arms around his neck. I pulled enough to get his air supply cut off without actually killing him. He struggled against my grip, his legs kicking and his mouth wheezing. But I didn't let go.
