^ pick your poison^ (I lowkey want that cabin house ugh)

Three weeks later

"Easy easy," I said to the mover as he sat the box in the bare living room. "Was that the last box?"

"Yes ma'am." He said with a smile as he took off his gloves. "My other guys are driving the bed-set up here as we speak."

"Thanks Johnny," I shook his hand before going to the backyard, immediately seeing Vanessa and the twins sitting by the outdoor fire with hot coco. "You guys sure did help." I teased as I approached them.

"And you did do something?" She retorted before handing me a cup. "Here brat."

"Thanks baby. The beds should be here later so we have some time to kill. Wanna tour of my city?" I asked, wiggling my eyes. She scowled and held her stomach in protest. Plan B. "Hey twins, who wants to see where Mama use to eat as a kid."

"Me!" That both screamed and jumped up.

"You did that on purpose." Vanessa huffed out before grabbing my arm when I reached out to help her up. Her stomach was slowly getting bigger but her back pain was worse this time around. I blamed it on her never wanting to sit down but the doctor said it was normal when in the middle of the first trimester.

"Maybe, but come on, you can see where I first got my first kiss behind Westwind movie theater." She slapped my shoulder and walked with me to the car. "Ooh Steph also gave me head after we watched twenty two jump street."

"Y/n, don't test me." I smirked and helped her into the passenger seat before leaning in and pressing my lips to hers.

"Okay so there's KC chicken, Sandra's Subs, or my personal favorite Poppies diner. It's right by my old high school." Vanessa smiled at my giddiness before lacing our fingers together.

"Let's go to the diner."

-

"Y/n!" I smiled as Poppie, the owner, immediately recognized me. She looked a lot older now and her hair was almost fully gray. "Oh sweetie it's been so long."

"I know," I gave her a hug before pulling back. "So, Poppie, this is my wife Vanessa and these are my kids, Stella and Ezra." They smiled and shook each other's hands but I could see the confusion in Poppies eyes. I assumed, like everyone I knew in KC, thought it would be Steph that I'd end up with. Welp. "So how's everything down here?"

"Oh it's not as good without our little server." I cringed as Vanessa piped up. "Oh Y/n here worked for us when she was just sixteen. She wore the cutest little apron with these suspenders."

"Okay okay." I groaned out when Vanessa pinched my cheeks with a laugh.

"That's so cute babe." I rolled my eyes. "Anymore stories about little Y/n?" I huffed and pushed her to the table.

"Oh I have plenty. Most of them involve her dropping her pots of coffee because of a girl."

"Hey," I cut in with a stern finger in her direction. "In my defense, they would always touch me and you know how I was."

"Yes I do," she raised her head when someone called her. "Duty calls. It's good to see you again, Y/n."

"Likewise Pops." I said with a smile before picking up the menu. "Wow, I haven't had the barbecue sandwich in forever." I mumbled and already figured out what I wanted. "You see anything you want- what?" I questioned when I looked up and saw Vanessa already staring at me.

"You just look happy." She mumbled before reaching out to grab my hand. "I like seeing you happy." I smiled softly and looked towards the window but she quickly grabbed my attention again. "Hey, I might not be your peace like instagram says a girl should be-" I snorted. "But if I can make you happy by coming to a diner, that's enough for me."
