My knuckles hit the door three times before I stepped back and chewed on my gum silently.

I only
saw Vanessa's Aston Martin in the driveway so I assumed she was the only one here.

"Coming." Vanessa mumbled and slowly cracked the door open, her head peaking out and once she saw me, she gasped and tried to slam the door but I moved quick and stuck my shoe in. "Y-Y/n, aren't you suppose to be in KC?"

"Yup, let me in." I said and pushed it easily, her not being as strong as I was. As soon as I was able to slide in, I closed the door and looked at her head to toe. Her arm was pressed into her stomach and I could see the right side of her face a little swollen. "Let me see." I said softly and motioned her to move closer.

"Y/nn," she mumbled but she knew I wouldn't take no for a answer, so she moved her arm and let me pull the shirt over her head slowly. I leaned down slightly and looked at her stomach, seeing the circular yellowish bruise on her skin.

I hummed, feeling my heartbeat start to rise slowly as I stood up to look at her face. I slowly brushed my thumb over her cheek. "Was this the first time?" She looked away. My jaw clenched and I moved my head into her view. "Vanessa."

"No." She whispered and turned her face into my hand. "Maybe the third?"

I sighed through my nose and leaned forward, pulled her forward to rest on my chest as I pressed my lips to her forehead. "You know where he is right now?"

"Probably at the studio down the street." I nodded and started to, what was, my office when I lived here. "You're too calm and it's freaking me out." Vanessa said and I nodded. "Y/n, what are you gonna do?"

I opened the cabinet and pulled it out with a smile, my signed Alex Gordon Royals bat. "I was always saving this for something special. Go figure." I said with a bitter chuckle and started back out of the room with Vanessa rushing behind me, trying to get me to stay.

"Have you thought this through?" She rushed out and swung in front of me, her hands pressing against my chest.

"I was on a four hour flight and I had an hour ride here, I think I've thought enough." I went to keep moving forward but she did something that...did indeed stop me. She grabbed my neck and pulled me forward, connecting our lips for the first time in what felt like years. My body crumbled to pieces in her hold, the bat sliding down to the ground as I wrapped my arms around her waist and lifted her up slightly. She had a plan to make me stay, but I had one better.

I pushed her against the wall and kissed my way down her neck, reaching her sweet spot. "Call August." I whispered and simultaneously bit down on her pulse point.

"Why?" She moaned out but nonetheless pulled out her phone and quickly went to his contact name. "What do I say?"

I pressed my stomach against her crouch area while speaking to distract her as I spoke. "Ask him where he's at."

She nodded subconsciously and when he picked up, roughly speaking, he replied. "Why the fuck you care? I'm at the studio on sunset." I pulled back and looked at the phone as I slowly lowered her body. "Hello-" I pressed end call and stepped back, picking the bat back up.

"Wait," Vanessa breathed out, looking both in shock and confused. "I don't want you to get hurt."

"I won't." I said nonchalantly and started to take stuff out of my pocket. "My house keys, my phone, and my necklace." I stared at the necklace with the two pics and kissed them, then rested it in her hands. She looked at me in confusion. "I don't want them taking my shit."

"They? Who are they?" She questioned immediately and followed me to the front door where I slyly grabbed her car keys, not having my own car. "Y/n, please."
