After, luckily, finishing the song, we all decided to come to some restaurant I never heard of. Apparently it was really fancy and Vanessa came here when she had her business dinners. Business dinners, how fucking official was she.Because we came here, that meant I had to change into something nicer and I hated it. I was fine in my jeans and a regular T-shirt but nooo, everything had to be about looking wealthy.
"It's itchy." I mumbled, pulling the turtle neck away from my skin as I huffed, looking up at Vanessa who pulled my hand down. "Can we just go to McDonald's? Ooh or Burger King? I haven't had a whopper in fore-"
"Stop being a brat." She said amusingly. "You use to wear these all the time."
"Yeah." I looked around and brought my voice down to a whisper as I leaned closer to her. "But only to cover up hickies." She giggled with a slight wink and I rolled my eyes, bumping my shoulder with hers.
"Enough of the flirting shit, please. It's making me miss my baby." Nylah groaned out, chugging down her glass of wine.
"Where is he?" I asked curiously, a subconscious smile making its way into my way as Vanessa slid her hand into mine.
"Filming for his new movie and it's based New York." A sigh left her lips. "I think he's meeting up with his ex to invite her to the wedding."
"Oh yeah, when is this wedding?" I asked and she perked up. "Soon?"
"Yes actually. We got engaged in the fall of last year. So... we planned to get married October twentieth." My eyebrows shot up in shock. That was literally in six months. "Yeah, it's coming fast."
"You know what comes with a wedding." We all looked at Vivian as she smirked. "A bachelorette party. Y/nn you're like a dude so you're not invited."
"Shut. Up." I said with an eye roll. "I know strippers."
"Yeaaaah!" Vivian and I laughed out as she reached to give me a high five from across the table. Vanessa then swiveled her head around, looking at me mid high five and I pulled my hand back, scratching my neck.
"Haaa, just kidding.." I mumbled nervously and she pointed at me warningly before smiling briefly and looking away, looking at Vanna.
"If you dont mind me asking, how did you two meet?" Vanessa questioned. Vanna and I simultaneously looked at one another silently and she looked away as she took a sip of her wine. Vanessa then looked over at me as she whispered. "Jonas said no secrets, right?"
I nodded and grabbed my water, kind of wishing I had something a little stronger than this right about now. "Right. It was about a year after I moved to iceland. I uh I was wondering around and we met in this place called Babalú." I looked at Vanna again and she looked everywhere but at Vanessa.
I handed the cashier my ID in confusion, not really understanding why he needed it for a coffee but I was still getting use to the customs around here so I didn't ask. "Okay, eight." He said simply and raised his hand. I handed him a ten and he looked up with a smile. "Where in America are you from?"
"Westwind, Kansas originally. But I've been in Los Angeles for a while." He nodded and handed me my change. "Thank you." I said once he gave me my drink.
Taking the spot by the window, I sat down and gazed outside at the small knit of people that were walking the streets. I wont lie. When Johann was at school and Rosie was at daycare, I became lonely as hell. I didn't have anyone to talk to or connect with. It was just me.
I think that's why I was starting to like being outdoors more. If I was inside, I could only focus on my thoughts, but when I was hiking or running through plains, I wasn't worried about anything in that moment.
