I walked idly besides Alexa with a frown as she picked at her fingernail silently, evident stress on her face.
I knew she had a reason for not wanting to be exposed but I didn't want to press or pester, so I waited. And those painful minutes were answered.
"Sorry if I'm being over dramatic it's just.." I nodded softly as she stopped herself with a sigh. "When I'm Rootbeer, I feel like I belonged somewhere. Lately you and the girls have been making me feel like I belong somewhere as Alexa and I thank you for that. But it's like.. that fan account was my escape."
"Something you knew well?" I whispered and she nodded. "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault, I'm the dumb one who forgot to switch my accounts before posting." she chuckled softly and rolled her eyes. "I guess I just didn't want them to change. But now since I'm Alexa to them, it changes everything."
"It doesn't have to be a bad change." I proposed, scratching the back of my neck when she looked at me. "I mean.. now you're Alexa: the biggest fan of Envy who's now dating Y/n. You're probably like a God to them. And you give them hope."
"Hope for what?" She asked.
"Hope that they can one day date their celebrity crushes. Because who knew.." she hummed as I wrapped my arms around her from behind as we walked through the night. "The same girl who once in a tweet claimed she would have me.. ended up having me."
"You remember that?" She laughed out and I nodded softly as I kissed her cheek. "Wow that was like the first time I tweeted about you guys.. do you remember all of my tweets?"
"Only the important ones. Like... December two thousand eighteen, 'Y/n would make the perfect mom.. to my kids." She covered her face with a groan as I kept going. "And then August twenty nineteen, 'Does anyone realize that Y/n just needs a long hug?' I did need a long hug."
She turned around in my hold and walked backwards, her arms circling my torso as she buried her head in my chest. "I think it's overdue."
I stopped us in the middle of the sidewalk and hugged her back with a sigh. "I think so too." I pecked her head before closing my eyes with a smile. "Thank you." I found myself whispering.
"For what?" She mumbled.
"Getting me out of a toxic situation.. I don't know what I'd be doing if it wasn't for you. Probably kissing the ground Vanessa walks on as she finds some other guy to chase after." She pulled her head back slightly and looked at me with a frown. "So, thank you for.. seeing my worth, I guess."
Her frown subsided into a soft smile as she nodded with a hum. "You're welcome... I'll save my thank yous for another time." She said and tugged her beanie down slightly before intertwining our fingers and leading me down the sidewalk again. "So, now I gotta officially tell everyone I'm Rootbeerflop.. how?"
"You could tweet it. Just say it's true or whatever. Or.." She raised her eyebrows. "Go live on my account."
"On insta? Oh geez, you get like twenty thousand viewers in sixty seconds, that's scary."
"Well, think of it like talking to a camera on YouTube. They're not verbally responding and you can't see them." She bit her bottom lip with a sigh. "Hey, you'll be fine. I'll be right there with you if you'd like."
She nodded softly and leaned against my shoulder. "Okay.."
"We can do it... before the get together on Christmas Eve." Her eyebrows raised. "So there's a reason to end it. 'Oh the gang is here, gotta go' eh?" She chuckled with a soft nudge against my shoulder.
