Prepare...for boredom, it's not long at all btw 👅

I sat against my headboard as I chewed on the red vines Sophia brought for me.

It was noon now, so I had all night and morning to process who I was sharing this building with. It was almost like a fucking family affair, everyone was here. I was surprised my mom wasn't hiding around somewhere.

"Knock knock." I looked up silently as she cracked the door open, peeking her head inside. "Can I come in?" I nodded, taking another bite of the red candy. "You're still eating those, huh?"

"You got me onto them." I sighed out, closing the pack and setting it on my bedside. "So, what do you want?"

She smiled sadly and on the edge of my bed. "I'm just checking up on you, making sure everything is fine."

I nodded before shrugging my shoulders. "Well, I'm fine."

"Y/n.." she ran her hand through her hair and huffed. "I'm sorry, is that what you want to hear? I'm sorry."

"What are you sorry for?" I tested as I crossed my arms across my chest. She rolled her brown eyes and shook her head. "You don't know what you're apologizing for so how could you be sorry?"

"I moved away-"

"No, you left for Africa and didn't tell me shit. You left and I had to hear from Ellie that we were over." She looked down in shame so I eased up a bit. "But...it kind of worked out in a way." She looked up again and I pointed at a picture in my wall.

"Yours?" She questioned once she saw the picture of the two smiling babies. I nodded and she giggled lightly as she grabbed it off of the wall. "She's- wow- she's your twin. What's their names?"

"Ezra and Stella." I grabbed another picture with Vanessa in it before handing it to her.

"You're telling me..you have a hot ass mama out there and you're in here?" I rolled my eyes as she 'tsked' me. "You fucking idiot."

"Hey, I know I'm an idiot, alright." I laughed before bumping her shoulder. When she looked back down at the picture of the twins, she sighed. "What?"

"Just thinking..like if everything was different.."

"Where would we be?" She nodded stiffly when I finished her sentence. "I don't know, I kind of feel like she's..the one? In the moment I thought you were but when I met Vanessa, God, I became a different person. I wasn't shy-"

"You weren't shy?" She asked in bewilderment.

"Yes, exactly, I wasn't shy. She made me do more just to take her out. And it was worth it, she made everything worth it." I smiled as I thought about our first date which was over two and a half years ago.

"Sounds like a keeper." I looked back at Steph and she was playing with the engagement ring on her finger.

"Her...or me?" I eased out, not wanting to cross any boundaries.

A quiet laugh left her mouth as she looked back up. "Should I have to answer that?" I scratched the back of my neck before looking away as she scooter closer. "Listen Y/n, I-"

"I brought food- oh.." I looked up as Vanessa walked in with a wide eyed Sophia.

"I tried to uh..block...but she's strong so um." Sophia shook her head before leaving the room and dashing down the hall.

Vanessa closed the door slowly before dropping the bags of food on-top of my desk, her back to us. When she spun around, her hands were perched on her hips as she eyed Steph and her close proximity to me.
