MATTY
I could not believe how Jem just got up on that stage and belted out that song the other night, especially when she told us it was a last minute thing and after what Peter had told me. She was amazing, she had a way of emoting lyrics when she sang that pierced through to your heart and soul making you feel every emotion intended. We were certainly out of place in that grand hall, with my bright red hair sticking out like a sore thumb, I heard a few mutters here and there, some commenting on Jem's pink hair as well but I kept my cool and ignored them for Jem's sake. This William kid is growing on me, he seems to be good for Jemima, I was a little concerned that they went M.I.A for while, but I was trying my best to trust Jem, and she wasn't drinking, although I think max drank her share for her, he was extremely tipsy by the time we left.
Yesterday Jem spent the whole day rehearsing at the opera house, I sent jack with her again, it made me feel more at ease, particularly as it was all day. Midnight blue performed a song that we intend to release in the next few weeks at a small fan event, it was actually the song we wrote for Jem that we played her the other week. I was glad that Jem wasn't there as the fans went a bit crazy as they hadn't seen us in a while. Jem sulked at not being able to come watch us, but we had another performance a few days after her show on Saturday so we were going to take her to that, I had asked jack to take responsibility for Jem at the performance after the run in with press I would rather be safe than sorry.
This morning Jem went in to do some costume and lighting stuff, then joined us for lunch before we had to go to a radio interview. We got simple hotdogs and fries and ate them on the way to the radio station in the van. Jem finished the hot dog but left most of the bun and half her fries, but I could tell she was really trying so I didn't push it today, she was definitely eating more and it was nice to see. Jem sat in a room next to the radio studio where she could listen in and watch us through a large glass window with Jack. It was the first interview we had done in a long while, the first one w3 had done since before my mum died and Jem came to live with us. We got the usual boring questions we had been asked a thousand times already but tried to answer them as creatively and as imaginatively as possible. We played a game of would you rather and who's most likely to, again standard for this type of thing. Then the station did a section of fan questions that had been sent in, at least these were usually a bit more interesting.
"So max, Debra wants to know if you've ever played a show hungover before?"
"Certainly, What teenage drummer hasn't?"
"And milo, Trisha wants to know if you will be designing the cover to the new album, something about drawing I think?"
"Um, we haven't got that far into things yet, We're running a little behind, but I like to doodle so maybe, plus Em is my doodle buddie now, so maybe a joint project would be good"
I cursed milo under my breath as we had so far managed to dodge all Jem related questions. I looked over at the window to see Jem who was giving milo a toothy smile and double thumbs up through the glass, ecstatic at the idea of designing artwork for midnight blue's new album with him.
"Ah Em, now that's your sister Matty?"
"Yes"
"We've had a lot of questions about her come through actually, she seems like a hot topic amongst your fans at the moment"
"It's also a topic that is very much off limits for the most part" I tried not to sound too rude
"Well she is living with you and the boys now though, correct"
"That's correct"
"How come"
"Personal reasons"
