Me and Daryl finished and started putting our clothes back on. I was putting on my shirt when we heard someone whistle and Merle started laughing.
"Damn girly. You got a nice body." He said and licked his lips.
We glared at him and Daryl pulled him away as I finished getting dressed. I grabbed my stuff and walked over to them. I saw Daryl talking to Merle, and heard it was about me. Merle was definitely pushing our buttons.
"Just stop." Daryl said.
I walked closer and Merle smiled at me. "What? All I'm saying is that you scored." He said.
Daryl was about to say something when I put my hand on his shoulder. I pushed him away and stood in front of Merle. He licked his lips again and looked up and down at my body.
"Eww." I thought.
I moved closer, grabbed his head, and whispered in his ear.
"My name is Kelley, douchebag." I said.
I backed up and slapped Merle as hard as I could when he was distracted. He fell down to the ground and held his face.
"What the hell?" He yelled.
Daryl walked up to me and we kissed.
"Thanks. He deserved it." Daryl said.
I smiled and kissed him again. I looked at Merle who was shocked on the floor. I bent over him and clapped my hands right by his ear.
"Get up Merle. We're moving." I ordered. "Let's go."
He hit my hands away and got up. I just laughed at him, and me and Daryl walked off with Merle following.
We walked several miles and it was now midday. The noise of running water was close and I realized how thirsty I was.
"You hear that?" Daryl asked.
"Must be Yellow Jacket." Merle said.
I nodded, but then we heard a cry.
"Did you hear that?" Daryl said.
"Sounds like two coons making love." Merle laughed.
We heard the cry and it sounded too familiar, and my new maternal instincts kicked in.
"No." I said. "It's a baby."
I instantly started running towards the noise. We reached the river and saw people on the bridge struggling to keep away walkers. We joined them on the bridge. I saw two men fighting about a dozen walkers with barely any weapons, and a woman with a baby crying in a car. I started shooting the walkers and killed several of them. Daryl killed others with his crossbow and Merle killed a few. A walker snuck up behind me and pushed me to the ground. I struggled to get it off, but it's teeth inches closer to my skin. Then, a foot kicked it off of me and I saw Merle now tackling the walker. He beat its head with his metal cast then looked at me. Merle held out his hand and I took it, and he lifted me up. I half hugged him and he slowly hugged me back.
"Thank you." I said.
"My baby brother would kill me if I let you die." He said and shrugged.
"I know." I laughed. "But still, thanks."
All the walkers were now dead and I saw Daryl collecting his arrows, so I did too. I saw the last arrow and so did Daryl. I smirked at him and raced him to the arrow. We both reached it and had a hand on it, but neither of us let it go. I made the smart decision to kiss him, and he let go of the arrow. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him hard. He smirked at me and put his hands on my waist, but then I heard the baby cry again. I instantly handed him back the arrow and walked over to the car, where I saw the men yelling at Merle in a different language. He was raiding their car for supplies and scaring the mother and baby.
Merle stood up and pointed a gun at the man. "Slow down. That ain't no way to say thank you." Merle threatened.
I stepped in front of the gun and pushed the men away.
"Leave them alone Merle. They're just scared." I said.
Merle glared at me, but lowered his gun and continued to ransack the car. I sighed and looked at the men, then looked at the baby in the car. I thought about Judith and how scared she would be. I looked at Daryl and I saw he was upset too. He walked behind Merle and aimed the crossbow at his back.
"Get out of the car." Daryl said.
"I know you're not talking to me, little brother." Merle said and continued to steal from them.
"Get in your car and get the hell out of here." Daryl told the man.
I turned around and ushered them into the car. They started the car and Merle stepped away, staring at Daryl who still had his crossbow aimed at him. As they drove off, Merle was pissed. Merle tried to slap the crossbow away, but Daryl moved it and started walking away.
"Kell, lets go." He called and I ran to him.
We walked into the forest with Merle calling out behind us.
"What were you doing pointing that thing at me?" Merle asked angrily.
"They were scared man." Daryl said but kept walking.
We didn't care for Merle anymore, and I was thinking that Daryl finally realized he made a mistake leaving the group for this.
"They were rude and owed us a token of gratitude." Merle complained.
"They didn't owe us anything." Daryl said.
"So, you're now helping people out of the goodness of your heart? Even though you may die doing it. Is that something Sheriff Rick taught you?!" He yelled.
Daryl turned around and faced Merle. "There was a baby!" He yelled.
"Otherwise you would've just left them for the biters." Merle said.
There was a long pause as they stared at each other, and I slowly backed away to stay out of it.
"Man I went back for you. You weren't there." Daryl said. "I didn't cut off your hand either, you did that. Way before they locked you up on that roof. You asked for it." He said and began walking away.
"You-You know what's funny to me? You and Sheriff Rick are like this now." Merle said and crossed his fingers. "I bet you a penny and a fiddle of gold you never told him that we were planning on robbing that camp blind."
I looked at Merle and then at Daryl who avoided my glance.
"It didn't happen." Daryl muttered.
"Yeah it didn't, cause I wasn't there to help you!" Merle said.
"What? Like when we were kids? Who left who then?" Daryl yelled.
"What!?" Merle yelled back. "Is that why I lost my hand?"
"You lost your hand because you're a simpleminded piece of shit." Daryl yelled in his face.
Daryl tried to walk away but Merle flipped out and grabbed the back of Daryl's shirt. He threw Daryl to the ground, and I tried to push Merle away who pushed me first. Merle yanked on Daryl shirt and it ripped off of him. Daryl's back that was covered in scars was now visible and Merle got really quiet.
"I-I didn't know." Merle said.
"Yeah, you did. He did the same to you. That's why you left first." Daryl said.
I picked up Daryl's crossbow and he took off his ripped shirt. He put on a spare shirt, threw on his vest, and I gave him his crossbow. He grabbed my hand and we started walking away.
"Where are you going?" Merle called out.
"Back to where I belong." Daryl said and motioned to me. "Where we belong."
"I can't go with you." Merle said. "I tried to kill that black bitch. Damn near killed the Chinese kid."
"He's korean." Daryl said back.
"Whatever." Merle said and tossed up his arms. "I still can't go with you."
"You know, I may be the one walking away, but you're the one who is leaving. Again." Daryl said.
He turned around and started walking off, with me by his side. We were going back to the prison, and Merle was slowly trudging far behind us.
