I was running through the streets of Alexandria to the one place I thought that needed the most protecting.
The armory.
I ran as fast as I could there, but once I arrived there were already five intruders leaving. One of them tackled Aaron to the ground and the others started running away. I shot the guy on top of Aaron first and shot at the rest, killing all but one.
"Shit." I cursed.
I was about to chase after him when another person, who looked just like the intruders, emerged from the bushes and shot him.
I was so confused. They started to run towards me and I aimed my gun at them, until I saw it was Carol.
She had a mask and cowl to cover her face and a "W" in blood written on her forehead, making her blend in.
"Jeez Carol, I almost shot you." I said.
She lowered her mask and took a deep breath. "Anyone else in there?" She asked.
"No." Aaron said, now sitting on the steps.
Carol lifted her mask back up and ran off without another word.
I turned around to see Aaron holding a bag that was dropped by one of the intruders. He was looking through a stack of pictures and I quickly realized what they were.
It was his bag he dropped when we got trapped a week back.
"I led them here." He sighed.
"Aaron..." I said.
"This is my fault." He said in disbelief.
I sighed and sat down next to him and put my hand on his shoulder.
"Aaron, this place is big. It's going to be even bigger after the expansion is finished. They were going to find us sooner or later." I explained.
Aaron just looked at the pictures and kept silent. I sighed and stood up because I knew I didn't have time for this.
"When you're done piting yourself, there are people here who need help. This isn't because of you, now get that through your damn skull." I said, and walked away.
I then heard him get up and walk inside the armory and I sighed. I then turned the corner to head back to Rick when suddenly I was picked up and slammed onto the ground.
I groaned in pain as my head forcefully hit the pavement. I felt blood rushing to my head and my vision started to get blurry. I then saw a man walking towards me, and he was holding a knife in his hand.
I tried to crawl away but he grabbed my ankle and pulled me towards him. He sat on top of me and tried to put a knife up to my throat, but I grabbed his wrists.
He pushed down hard, but I pushed back harder. I grunted in pain as I felt my arms getting weak. The knife was only inches from my neck now, and I was panicking.
"This world belongs to the Wolves." Was all he said.
The blade touched my skin and I felt it slowly indenting my neck. I grunted as I pushed up, which only made him push down harder.
I felt a sting in my neck and then blood. Everytime I moved or breathed, the knife went a little deeper.
"I can't die. Not now. Not like this." I thought to myself. "Think!"
I remembered my gun holstered on my belt and that's the only thing I could think of. But to grab that I would need to let go of one of his wrists, which would give him the opportunity to slice my neck more. And if he did that, I would die.
I had no choice. I will die if I don't do something.
With all my strength I pushed his wrists up, which gave myself a few inches, then quickly I let go and grabbed my gun.
I felt the blade cut my skin as I held the gun up to his head and shot him. In just a second, he was dead and I was cut.
I held my hand up to my neck and felt blood clotting up. The cut was deep enough to scar but not enough to stop my breathing.
I stood up and got severely light headed. I saw Aaron turn the corner and find me stumbling around, and then I blacked up.~~~~~~~~~~
I leaned against the table as I regained consciousness and soon felt better.
"How long was I out?" I asked as I rubbed my head.
"About 15 minutes." Aaron said as he walked over to me.
I touched my neck and felt a bandage on it and it stung. I flinched in pain and sighed.
"I need to get back to Rick." I said.
I started grabbing some guns and was about to leave when Aaron stood in the doorway.
"I can't let you go." He said. "You just almost got killed."
"Aaron. There's the possibility I can die out there just as much as in here. I need to go." I said.
I tried to move past him but he blocked my way. I sighed in frustration and stared him down.
"Get out of my way Aaron. Don't make me hurt you." I threatened.
"But Kelley.." He whined.
I just squeezed my way past him and out the door. I began walking away when he called out my name, and I kept walking as I turned around.
"Come back alive." He said.
I nodded my head and jogged back to where Rick should be waiting. Standing in front of the crashed truck was Rick tapping his watch. He saw me and sighed with relief, then saw my neck.
"What the hell happened?" He asked and gently grabbed my neck.
I grabbed his wrists and moved his hands away.
"I'm fine. Just got into it with someone." I said, trying to ignore the pain. "They call themselves the Wolves, but they're all taken care of now."
Rick was clearly worried, and based on how he looked I can only imagine what Daryl's going to say.
"Is Carl okay? Judith, Lee?" Rick asked.
"Yes, yes. They are all okay." I said.
"Are you sure you're okay to go?" Rick asked.
"I said I'm fine." I said harshly. "Let's go."
Rick slowly nodded and we began running back to the herd. Soon I saw that the herd got back on track and the plan was still working.
"How far is Daryl?" I asked.
"About a mile ahead." He said. "We keep moving at this pace, we'll be there in no time."
I nodded in agreement and followed Rick through the forest, keeping an eye on the hoard of the dead that was right next to me, but I wasn't as worried anymore.
I already stared down death once today, so finishing this should be easy.
