I handed Beth the baby and told her to go in her cell. She nodded and Carol went with her. I checked my gun and saw it had half a magazine left. I sighed and tucked it in my pants behind my back. I made sure I had my knife and waited by the table. Just minutes later Rick ran in with Carl, and he was carrying an unconscious woman.
"Carl, get a blanket. Kelley get water and a towel." Rick ordered.
I came back with what he asked and he laid her on the blanket that Carl put on the floor.
"She's not coming in the cell block." Rick said.
I handed him the water and he sprinkled on her face. Her eyes opened and she freaked out. She reached for her sword but Rick kicked it away.
"Hey. We're not going to hurt you." Rick said. "Unless you try something stupid first."
"Rick." Someone said.
We turned around and it was Daryl.
"Thank God." I thought. "He's okay."
"Who the hell is this?" Daryl asked and pointed at her.
Rick looked back at the woman. "You want to tell us your name?"
"I didn't ask for your help." She said through gritted teeth.
"Doesn't matter." Rick responded.
Daryl touched Rick's arm and they walked away to talk in private. He said something and Rick nodded and looked back at the woman.
"We'll keep this safe." Rick said and held up her sword.
Rick grabbed the basket she was carrying and walked over to Daryl. They started talking and searching through it, and saw it had some food, but mostly baby formula. Rick sighed and walked back over to the woman.
"We can tend to that wound." Rick said, and pointed at her thigh and blood soaked pants. "But first, we need to know why you are here and why you were carrying baby formula."
"The supplies were dropped by a young Asian man and a pretty white girl." She said.
Hershel instantly stood up. "Were they attacked?" He asked.
"Taken." She said.
"By who?" Rick questioned.
"By the same son of a bitch who shot me." She said rudely.
Rick didn't like her attitude so grabbed her hurt leg. She jumped up, limped backwards, and pointed at him.
"Don't you ever touch me again." She yelled.
"Better listen. Or you'll have something worse than a gunshot wound." Daryl said and aimed his crossbow at her.
"Find them yourselves." She muttered.
I stepped forwards and looked at Daryl. "Put it down."
He hesitated and once he looked at me, he nodded. I stood in front of her and she looked at me curiously.
"Where were they taken?" I asked. "Please. My people are good people. We just want them back safe."
She was silent for a moment then sighed. "There's a town. Woodbury. About 75 people, ran by a man who calls himself the Governor." She said, his name with disgust.
I looked at her then at the group and nodded.
"He got muscle?" Daryl asked.
"Military wannabes." She said. "It's protected from walkers, but we could slip through."
Rick and Daryl looked at each other and nodded. I agreed with them and it was settled. We were going to go get Glenn and Maggie back.
"This is Hershel. The father of the girl who was taken. He'll fix that." Rick said and left.
Daryl whistled at me and nodded me over. I walked over to him and hugged him.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you." I apologized. "Thank you for coming back."
He hugged me back and sighed with relief when he touched me.
"Did I worry you?" He asked.
"I know you can handle yourself. I just didn't like how we ended things." I said and lowered my head.
He gently lifted my chin and looked me in the eyes. "I love you." He said.
I sighed and nodded my head. I felt a little bit better now. He grabbed my waist and pulled me close.
"So, did you talk to Rick yet?" He asked.
"About what?" I asked, confused.
"About him hitting you." He said, like it was obvious.
I scoffed and looked at him annoyed. I let go of him and backed away.
"Yeah, I did." I said. "But go ahead and talk to him yourself if you don't believe me."
I shook my head at him and was upset that he was still upset about it.
"Kell." He said.
"Just stop, Daryl." I said and held up my hand.
I turned around and saw the lady staring at us. Hershel finished stitching her leg and now she was all alone. I left Daryl and walked over to her. She watched as I sat down at the table in front of her.
"Sorry for how we treated you earlier. The guys are extremely protective." I said, and chuckled to try and lighten the mood.
She just stared at me. I sighed and held out my hand.
"I'm Kelley." I said. "I'd like to get to know each other on a first name basis."
She sighed and shook my hand. "Michonne."
"Nice to meet you." I said. "Do you want anything?" I asked.
She hesitated but asked me for water, and I left to get her some. Then we gathered our stuff and walked out to the cars in the courtyard. I was walking towards the car when I saw Daryl talking to Rick who was staring at the ground. I already knew what he was saying so I left them alone. I grabbed Michonne's sword and handed it to her.
"Don't make me regret it." I said.
She nodded and sat down in the car. I put my bag of supplies in the trunk and leaned up against the car. Daryl walked over to the car and threw his stuff in the trunk. He then stood in front of me and I stared at him.
"I think it's my turn to say I'm sorry." He said.
"Yeah. You think?" I scoffed at him.
"Kelley, you have to understand something." He began. "I am in love with you, and when you get hurt..." He said and breathed deeply. "I-I just can't."
I put my hand on his chest and nodded. I then caressed his cheek and he held it there.
"Let's not fight again." I said. "I don't want to waste any time being angry at each other."
Daryl smiled and kissed me. I laughed as he picked me up and spun around.
"Uh, Kelley?" I heard Carl ask me.
"Yeah?" I said and Daryl put me down.
"Where are you guys going?" He asked.
"We're getting Glenn and Maggie back." I said. "Watch over your sister for me."
He nodded but looked over at Rick.
"Don't worry about your old man." Daryl said and grabbed Carl's shoulder. We'll keep an eye on him."
Carl nodded and Daryl pat his back.
"Why don't you go talk to your dad before we leave." I suggested
Carl nodded and walked over to his dad. Daryl left to go check for extra supplies and I sat in the backseat with Michonne.
"He your boyfriend?" She asked about Daryl.
I smiled and nodded my head.
"Wasn't this place overrun?" She asked.
I nodded and avoided her glance.
"You cleared it out? Just the few of you?" She asked.
"There were others." I said quietly.
She nodded and stopped asking questions since I went silent. The guys then got in the car, and Rick drove us away. We were on our way to Woodbury to get Glenn and Maggie back, and hoping it would go smoothly like we planned.
