I woke up early the next morning, before the sun was fully up, and walked around the farm. It felt empty without Bud walking by my side, or barking at the chickens. He was the last thing I had to remind me of my family. With him gone, it felt like my old self was gone. I had to restart my life, and even with the horrible end of the world circumstances I had to find meaning.
In the distance I saw Daryl walking quickly to a shed. He closed the door and I felt obligated to follow him. I was walking towards the shed when I heard grunting coming from inside. I heard a loud punch and that's when I finally opened the door. I saw Daryl standing over a man, punching him, and the man's face was covered in blood.
"Please man. Don't do this." The man begged.
"Daryl?" I asked in shock.
He turned around, grabbed my arm, and led me out of the shed.
"Why are you beating him?" I asked, starting to freak out.
"His group attacked Hershel, Rick, and Glenn last night. We captured him and we're interrogating him." He explained.
I shook my head and rolled my eyes at Daryl.
"Beating a man should not be known as an interrogation." I said.
He just shrugged and I threw up my hands.
"Whatever. If you think it'll help, go for it." I said and gave up.
I didn't want to fight with Daryl, I already dealt with enough in the past 24 hours.
"You're not mad at me are you?" Daryl asked and followed me.
I kept walking and he grabbed my arm. I turned around and he let go.
"I just don't have the energy for this anymore Daryl." I said, my tone sounding exhausted.
He looked at me apologetically, and I sighed.
"If you are going to beat that man again, I'm going with you. I want to talk to him myself." I said.
Daryl told me no, but I didn't listen. He cussed under his breath and followed me into the shed. The guy looked at me as I walked in, and I leaned against the wall. Daryl walked back over to him and started asking questions, and he didn't answer honestly. Me and Daryl both knew he was hiding something.
Daryl punched him and the guy spit out blood.
"I told you already." He said.
"You told me shit." Daryl said and grabbed his shirt.
Daryl punched him again and threw him to the ground.
"I barely knew the guys." He cried.
Daryl was about to hit him again when I stepped in. I had a soft look on my face and Daryl sighed. He backed off and I stepped toward the guy.
"What's your name?" I asked him.
He didn't answer and I squatted down to his level. He looked young, no older than 20.
"I asked, what is your name?" I asked again.
"Randall." He said.
"Okay." I said and nodded. "I'm going to ask you a few questions and I expect you answer them honestly. If you don't, I'll make you wish you died when you attacked our people." I said, surprisingly calm.
He nodded and I nodded back.
"How many people in your group, Randall?" I asked nicely.
"Uh-I-I don't know." He stuttered.
I could tell he was lying and just sighed. I stared at him and then pulled out my knife.
"Now, what did I say about lying?" I threatened.
"Thirty guys." He blurted out.
I put my knife away and let Daryl step back in.
"Where? You plan on staying?" Daryl asked.
"I don't know. They left me behind." He said, starting to panic again.
Daryl pulled out his knife and held it up to a nasty looking scab on Randall's leg.
"You ever pick off a scab?" Daryl taunted. "You start off real slow. Sooner or later, you just gotta rip it off!" Daryl yelled and slowly stabbed his leg.
"I don't know. I'm innocent!" He yelled at Daryl.
I stomped over to him and pushed his head back against the wall.
"Innocent?!" I yelled. "You shot at my people and want to take this farm, and you're telling me you're innocent?" I said.
"Yes!" He cried. "These people took me in. Not just men, but women and kids, just like you guys. I thought I'd have a better chance, you know. The men are the ones who go out and scavenge. Please I didn't mean anything." He explained.
Daryl shoved the kid and walked me to the side. With Daryl's back to the kid, he looked at me and sighed.
"What do you wanna do?" I asked Daryl.
He shrugged and looked at me. Then Randall said the worst thing that pissed Daryl off.
"Hey. Hey, man. Is that your girl? She looks real nice. If you let me stay, I can help protect her. Protect all of you guys. She'll be safe,
I promise." He said.
I saw Daryl's face flood with anger. He pulled out his knife and turned around the face him. I ran in front of Daryl trying to keep him back, but he was strong and angry.
"You leave her out of this. You try to do anything to her, I will kill you!" Daryl yelled over my shoulder. "You hear? I will kill you!"
I pushed Daryl back and grabbed his face. I made him look at me and he slowly calmed down.
"Babe, it's fine. He won't do anything." I said and walked him to the other side of the room. "Just calm down."
Daryl grabbed my waist and pulled me closer. "You just called me babe." He whispered.
He leaned close and tried to kiss me but I stopped him. I smiled at him but walked back over to Randall. I reached his eye level and pulled out my knife. I held it up to his face, the point touching the bottom of his chin.
"You should be thanking me right now. I could've let Daryl kill you right there. But I didn't." I said, and twisted the knife harder against his skin. "Because if you were to do anything to me, or to this group, I will be the one to kill you. And I'll make sure it's slow and painful." I threatened.
I pulled the knife away and let the blade cut his skin. He winced in pain and I wiped the blood off on his pants. He nodded, and I saw he had more fear in his eyes than before.
"Not so nice now, am I?" I asked, and deviously smiled. I stood up and Daryl walked over to my side. He grabbed my hand, and we walked out of the shed together leaving Randall scared and in pain.
Once outside, Daryl stopped me and looked me in the eyes.
"I fell in love with a badass." He said.
I smiled and he kissed my cheek. I hugged him tightly and held slowly wrapped his arms around me.
"And I fell in love with the one and only, Daryl Dixon." I said.
He let go of me and I looked into his eyes. He leaned forwards and lightly kissed me and I wrapped my arms around his neck. He playful grabbed my butt and I laughed.
"I love you." Daryl said.
I nodded and grabbed his hand. "I know."
