I woke up with only a sheet covering my naked body and I couldn't help but smile to myself. I looked over to see Daryl, but only saw an empty bed.
I sighed and dropped my hand on his pillow and rolled over. I sat in the center of the bed and held the sheet up to my chest. Then Lee started crying and I sighed again.
"Hold on love." I said.
I got up and began getting dressed, struggling to put my bra on. I sighed in frustration and after a minute I finally got it on. I put on my tank top, attached my showy prosthetic, and then threw on a leather jacket. I then put on some jeans and slipped on a pair of boots. I looked at hair and just brushed it, deciding to leave it down, because I knew I couldn't put it up without someone's help.
I went into Lee's room and picked him up. I fed him like I normally do, changed him, and took him with me to find Daryl.
I decided to go to Rick's house first, and inside I saw Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, and Abraham in the living room.
He nodded when he saw me and I smiled.
"Hey. You sleep fine?" He asked and smirked.
"Yeah, just fine." I said and kissed him.
He took Lee from me and held him, kissing his forehead. Maggie smiled at us and I hugged her, and said goodmorning to everyone.
"Kelley, I have some news that I haven't got to tell you yet." Maggie said.
I nodded and gave her my attention.
"I'm pregnant too." She said.
I smiled and couldn't help but hug her again.
"Ohh, you gonna be the best mother." I said and then hugged Glenn. "Congratulations."
I then looked around and remembered about this new guy from last night.
"Where's the new guy?" I asked.
"The sketchy one?" Daryl asked and scoffed.
I just glared at him and shook my head, and he apologized.
"He's locked up in a room." Daryl said.
I just nodded and quietly chatted with Abraham, while we were waiting for Rick to get up.
Not even a minute later, we heard a gun click and a voice coming from upstairs.
"What the hell are you doing in my house?" The voice asked, and I knew it was Carl. I pushed past everyone and was about to walk up the stairs, when I stopped.
The man was sitting on the stairs holding a painting, and Carl was aiming a gun at him.
"Carl, put the gun down." I said, trying not to threaten this guy, but honestly he was oddly calm.
"Not until he answers the question." Carl said.
"Well." Jesus said politely and hung the painting back on the wall. "I was sitting on the stairs, looking at this painting, waiting for your mom and dad to get dressed." He said then held his hand out to Carl. "Hi, I'm Jesus."
Carl nodded towards me and Jesus turned around and looked at me too.
"That's my mom."
Jesus looked confused, and so were we. Just then, another door opened and Rick ran out of his room while zipping up his pants. Michonne then walked out and was putting on her shirt.
"What the.." I thought to myself.
"Carl, umm." Rick said and then saw Jesus.
"Well this is awkward." Jesus said and looked at all of us.
Rick then put on his shirt that Michonne gave to him, and then stared at Jesus.
"You said let's talk. So talk." Rick said.
Jesus nodded and walked past all of us and into the dining room. We all stood around the table and stared at this mysterious guy.
"How'd you get out?" Rick asked.
"One guard can't cover two exits with third floor windows." He said and shrugged. "Knots untie and locks get picked. Entry becomes an order, right?" He responded.
"Right." Daryl said roughly.
I then walked to him and offered to take Lee, which he accepted. He fussed a little bit, but I quickly quieted him down.
"I checked out your arsenal." Jesus then said. "I haven't seen anything like that in a long time. You're well equipped, but your provisions are low. Very low for the amount of people you have... 54?" He guessed.
"More." I said and he looked at me. "Way more."
He just sighed and then picked up a cookie that we knew Carol made and ate it.
"Mhhm. Compliments to the chef." He said.
"Yeah, she's not here." Daryl said, clearly still pissed off.
"Look, we got off to a bad start, but we're on the same side." Jesus said and held out his hands.
"Yeah, what side?" I asked curiously.
"The living one." He said and looked at all of us. "Daryl and Rick had every reason to leave me out there, but they didn't.. I have a place that's a lot like this one. Part of my job is to search for other settlements to trade with." Jesus explained and then looked at Rick. "I took your truck because my community needs things, and both of you looked like trouble out there."
"Ain't that the point?" Daryl asked.
"Well, yeah.." He said.
"We need things too. That's why our men were out there." I said.
"I know, and I was wrong." He said in an apologetic tone.
He then looked at Lee in my arms and couldn't help but slightly smile.
"You're good people." Jesus said. "This is a good place. I think our communities are in a position to help each other."
"Do you have food?" Glenn asked.
"We started to raise livestock, and grow crops. Everything from tomatoes to sorghum." Jesus said.
"Tell us why we should believe you." Rick said and stepped forwards, looking assertive.
"I can show you." Jesus said, unphased by Rick. "We take a car and I can get you back home in a day. And you get to see if you like what we have to offer."
"You said you're looking for another settlement." Maggie spoke up. "So you mean you are already trading with other groups?"
Jesus just chuckled at her comment in amusement, and we all looked at him confused.
"Your world is about to get a whole lot bigger." He said.
We turned our attention from him onto Rick, who nodded at us.
"Then let's go." Rick ordered.
