The whistle is blown.

"Let's play!"

The whole team lined up in front of the other team and shook hands with them under the net.

As the matches were about to start, so did the cheering from the stands. One particular cheering caught both you and Shouyou's attention.

"Go! Go! Let's go! Let's go, Dateko!"

You marveled at how loud they can be.

"Cool," You muttered while also staring at their banner that said Date's Iron Wall.

"Shouyou if we had a cheer, what do you think it would be?" You asked.

"I don't know," Shouyou replied. "But whatever it is, having someone cheer for the team must feel great!"

"Right!" You agreed. "Oh! We're supposed to group around Coach! Let's go."

You and Shouyou ran to the benches along with your team.

"Listen up. This is everyone's first match," Keishin said as the whole team surrounded him "Everyone's nervous, everyone's anxious, everyone's not their usual self. But you have to overcome those things before they do. Score a big victory first, and find your groove."

"Osu!"

"I mean what I'm going to say and it's no empty compliment," Ittetsu started. "You are all strong. Karasuno is strong. Let's show everyone in the gym how crows fly."

"Take-chan, good one!" Yu exclaimed.

"They say that inauspicious line everywhere we go," Ryunosuke said, crossing his arms. "Fallen powerhouses. Flightless crows."

"But let's show them, Look! We, Karasuno, are the champions of old! We are winners!" Ittetsu said.

"Osu!"

"Was that poetic? Was it moving?" the club advisor asked, waving his hands frantically.

"It was fine," Daichi assured. "Fine."

"It was very fine!" You exclaimed.

"What does he mean champions of old?" Shouyou asked.

"How am I supposed to know?" Tobio asked.

Shouyou turned to you. But before he asked, you already answered him.

"Don't look at me," You said. "I don't know as well."

"We aren't really," Koushi explained. "But the nuance seems to be that we were strong in the past."

"Hey, let's get going," Daichi said.

All of you huddled together in a circle and bent down as Daichi shouted.

"Karasuno, fight!"

"Yeah!"

The game starts officially.

Asahi ends up receiving the ball once it went to your team's side of the court.

You could see Tobio go through a short thought process— probably deciding who he wanted to toss to. In the end, he chooses Ryunosuke who ends up giving the team their first point.

You chuckled as you watched Ryunosuke and Yu shout in excitement which was soon followed by Shouyou.

"Nice Tanaka-"

Daichi got cut off by Ryunosuke screaming, "Take that!"

"Nice open-"

Soon after, Yu joined in as well with shouting.

"Shut up! That's too much!" Daichi shouted, earning the team a warning for being loud.

Your laughing grew louder as you watched Daichi apologize to one of the referees.

"Tanaka. Nice serve!" Daichi exclaimed as Ryunosuke prepared to serve the ball.

When the ball went past the court, one of the players received it. Both Daichi and Shouyou jumped when the other team was about to spike the ball. It hit Daichi's fingers, causing the ball to change direction.

Before the ball could hit the floor though, Yu received it.

"Amazing! He saved it."

"That libero is fast."

You smiled as people noticed Yu.

Because of the unusual receive though, the second-year wasn't able to get the ball to Tobio.

"This one's yours, ace!" Yu said.

Daichi ended up passing the ball towards Asahi who had three people guarding him. That didn't matter though. Because once Asahi got to spike, the ball went past the blockers, earning Karasuno another point.

Once the point was registered, the people began to talk about the rumors surrounding Asahi. You stifled your laugh to decrease the damage it had on him.

You looked to the side and saw Shouyou basically telling Tobio with his actions that he wanted to hit the next ball.

"Shut up! I know!" Tobio shouted to a Shouyou who looked like a cute puppy waiting for his treat.

The whistle blew once again and Ryunosuke went beyond the court to make another serve

"Tanaka, another nice serve!" Daichi shouted.

Once the ball was returned to Karasuno's side of the court, Yu received it.

Then it happened.

Like a bird— no, not just generally a bird— a crow. Like a crow, Shouyou ran forward and jumped and for a second, because of how high it was, it looked like he flew. With eyes closed and nothing but trust for Tobio, the middle blocker that everyone doubted slammed his hand and landed on his feet.

He earned the third point for the team, leaving many speechless.

'That's it Shouyou,' You thought while smiling proudly towards your friend. 'Show them. Let them see the growing strength of the school that they claimed has fallen.'

Tokonami [12-24] Karasuno

It was the set point for Karasuno with Shouyou serving.

You pressed your hands together and brought it near your lips as you watched your friend serve.

"Hinata, nice serve!" Daichi said.

"Tamagawa!" someone from the other team shouted.

"Nice receive, Tamagawa-senpai!" their setter said.

"Bring it to the left!" shouted Ikejiri Hayato, Daichi's old schoolmate.

"Ikejiri-senpai!" their setter said, tossing the ball to Hayato.

As Hayato spiked, the ball went back to their side of the court. Daichi and Kei blocked the ball which in turn gave the team their last needed point to wrap the set.

"All right!" Your team shouted.

After that, the ones who played went to the bench to have their short water break before the next match.

"Nice one, guys!" You said, patting both Shouyou and Yu on their shoulders.

"Thanks!" Yu said, grinning. "Say, why don't you handle the second match?"

"Huh?" You asked, completely caught off guard. "I-Is that possible? What are you saying?"

"Come on, Shin! Play for the team!" the second-year said, repeatedly hitting you on your back.

"N-Noya-san!" You shouted. "I don't think I deserve to be playing with the team yet in an official match."

"What are you saying?" Yu said, stopping on hitting your back.

"Um," You mumbled.

Yu put an arm around your shoulder and pulled you closer by the side.

"Of course you do!" he exclaimed, grinning at you.
