Kei was stuck with you. He wasn't completely annoyed with it, honestly. It was better than getting stuck with Shouyou or Tobio, in his opinion.
Still, he wondered how he ended up having to ride the ferris wheel with you.
You sat on the seat in front of him with the cotton candy he owed you in your hand. You were facing the window, your feet folded on the seat as you stared outside.
"It's probably extremely cheesy to hear this but," You said, pausing to touch the window which was a little cold from the height. "I never got to experience appreciating something as simple as the view and I kinda feel sad right now that it took me these many years to do so."
You smiled as you continued to admire the view.
"It's pretty," You mumbled.
Kei looked at you, who was admiring something that he himself saw for how many times already. If it was anyone else with you who didn't know your secret, they probably wouldn't even think that you were anything more than an innocent girl.
The blond began to wonder.
"How did you find the people you're working for now?" he asked.
You looked at Kei, a little surprised with how he was being curious about you right now.
"I didn't find them," You answered. "They found me."
"How?"
"You know," You said, adjusting your sitting position so you could face him comfortably. "I've never told anyone about how I became an agent mostly because they either already knew or they didn't have to."
"Ah," Kei said. "You don't have to-"
"But I trust you," You said, cutting him off. "And frankly, I actually want to tell you. Is that weird?"
"I don't know."
"Me too."
You giggled a little.
"But I'm gonna tell you anyway," You said. You leaned your cotton candy towards him. "Cotton Candy?"
"No thanks," the blond said.
"Okay," You said, grabbing a pinch of the cotton candy and eating it. "Well, before all that, I was in an orphanage. I grew up there. That's where I met a lot of people who became my friends."
"Hey you! Hi!" a four-year-old boy exclaimed.
"Hello," You mumbled.
"What's your name?"
"[Name]."
"That's pretty," the boy said. "I'm Hibiki!"
"Hibiki," You said, repeating his name. "That's also pretty."
"[Name]," an old lady said. "He's the same age as you. He just came here today. Do you wanna help me show him around?"
"Yeah!" You exclaimed.
"There was an old lady who was the one looking over all of us," You said, giving off a dry laugh after. "I'm ashamed with the fact that I forgot her name. I just called her Grandma."
You looked to the side, but Kei could tell that your mind was somewhere else. You continued to talk as you stared at nothing.
"The orphanage wasn't huge but it still had a lot of children in it and Grandma took care of us all as much as she could. She also had a few people who helped her. But when I was six years-old, the orphanage suddenly faced financial problems. This took a toll on Grandma and the stress, along with her old age, ended up taking her life away.
