Maki grit his teeth as he sat on his bed, one of his legs folded to his chest while the the other lying on the bed— folded as well. Seven glanced at him in the corner of his eyes before continuing with his typing.

The blue-haired boy sighed.

"I know we're not as close as you are with Six," Seven said, turning from the chair he was on. "But I do know that that's your conflicted face."

Maki looked at him before looking back at the notes he wrote down.

"It's not connected to the mission so don't worry about it," he said.

"But I bet it's connected to her," Seven said.

The black-haired boy did a subtle look to the side— his response to being caught.

"Isn't it?" Seven asked.

"I'm not even gonna bother denying because I know you'll annoy me anyway," Makin said.

"So I was right, huh?" Seven asked, chuckling afterwards. "You know Three, I'm not gonna lie. You are an extremely good agent but when it comes to your emotions, you're pretty bad at it."

"What?" Maki asked, a little surprised.

"Oh come on, Three. It's no secret that you're absolutely smitten with our lovely Agent 606," Seven said, rolling his eyes. "Honestly, when she told me that she was gonna tell you how she felt, I thought the two of you were gonna leave the agency."

He paused to look at Maki's expression.

"But what did you do?" Seven asked. "You rejected her."

"I didn't reject her," Maki said, his voice louder than usual. Once he realized that he had accidentally shouted at Seven, he calmed down first before continuing. "I just.... I told her that given the situation, we couldn't be together."

"You wanted to leave with her, didn't you?" Seven asked, raising his eyebrow at him. "But you didn't tell her that. That's why I said you're bad when it comes to dealing with emotions."

"I didn't tell her because I didn't want her to make a decision because of me," Maki said, explaining his own actions.

"And yet you do things because of her," Seven said, clicking his tongue afterwards.

"What do you-"

"Why are you an agent?" Seven asked, cutting off his fellow agent.

"Because I want to," Maki answered.

The blue-haired boy leaned back and clicked his tongue in beat with waving his index finger— telling Maki that he didn't believe him.

"Why are you an agent?" Seven asked, repeating the question.

Maki just looked back at his notes and ignored the agent.

"Oh, come on. It's not fun when you don't answer," Seven said, pouting. He sighed as he leaned forward on the chair. "Fine. I'll answer for you."

Seven crumpled one of the used papers on the table and threw it at Maki. The black-haired boy looked up and glared at the other agent.

"You're scared of losing her," Seven said, answering his own question. "And by that, I mean losing contact with her or her dying."

"Why wouldn't I be?" Maki said, his glare softening. "I've been with her since we were four and I almost lost her when we were seven. Then, on our first field mission I froze because the target attacked her and she ended up having to save me."

Maki ran his hand through his hair and sighed.

"There's a lot of close calls in this job," he continued. "And sometimes, Six can be quite impulsive. Whenever she goes on a mission alone, I always worry that she'll derail from the plan and end up hurt."

Seven started chuckling, disrupting the serious atmosphere.

"It's actually funny that many from our branch are a little intimidated by you because of your seriousness when in reality, you are the biggest softie," he said. "Well, at least for Six you are."

"Why are you telling me this?" Maki asked.

"To make you realize that she'll never get how you actually feel unless you use words, idiot," Seven said.

Maki looked up, his head leaning on the wall.

"What good will that do?" he asked.

"She'll understand you more," Seven said. "And maybe you'll get the situation you always wanted."

The blue-haired  boy turned around and continued with what he was working on.

"Or maybe, you're too late," he continued while typing. "Who knows?"

"What do I even tell her?" Maki asked.

"Start with what's going on in your mind right now," Seven said, turning again for a second.

"What's going on in my mind....."

'I told her before that her getting close to the team was something inevitable and until now, I still believe that. But, I never thought she'd actually tell them the truth. Lies break trust while the truth solidifies it. What if her connection is enough to make her want to leave?' Maki thought.

He lightly bit the tip of his thumb as he pondered over the mess his mind was in.

'The thought of her leaving the agency. Why does it make me both sad and happy? If she does, what will happen?'

Maki sighed and stood up. He walked out of his room and headed to the one next to it. Seven, who saw him stand, just shook his head.

The black-haired boy took a deep breath before knocking on your door.

"Six...."

He grabbed the door knob and slowly opened the door.

The lights in your room were off. From the small light in the hallway, he was able to see the volleyball jersey you had hung up on your closet door.

Maki chuckled to himself, finding it really cute that you had found a new interest while doing the mission. When he looked at your bed, he saw that you were already sleeping— probably tired from training.

"This idiot," he mumbled to himself, chuckling. "Not knowing when to stop."

He slowly closed the door.

"Maki?" You called out, a little unsure if it was actually him.

"Yeah," Maki said, opening the door a little so you could see him.

"Did you want to say something?" You asked.

"It's nothing," Maki said, shaking his head. "It can wait."

"Okay. I still have to go to school early tomorrow," You said with a soft voice as you went back to sleep. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight," Maki said, closing your door and leaving you alone.
