They say when you do something, you have to be prepared for the consequences.
Here's the thing though. He didn't mean to overhear what you were saying and he most definitely wasn't prepared for your action the day after.
"So you're gonna be around me the whole day?" Kei asked.
"It's not like I wanted to," You said, frowning. "I can't be too sure with you, you know?"
The blond clicked his tongue.
"This is gonna be a bother," he mumbled to himself. "Didn't you say you had something to investigate or something?"
"Well, I don't really have to do that around here," You said, placing both of your hands behind your head.
"Great. Just great," Kei mumbled to himself in a sarcastic tone.

"Don't go anywhere, okay?" You said with a smile.
It looked like a regular smile but Kei had the feeling that it had some threat into it.
"I'm just going to look for Noya-san!" You exclaimed before running out of the gym.
The blond rolled his eyes. No way was he going to stay any longer in the gym than needed. He grabbed his towel that was on the floor and prepared to leave.
"I'm heading out," Kei said.
"Okay," Daichi said, turning to the blond. "Good work!"
"Hey, Tsukishima!" Ryunosuke shouted. "We're gonna practice the synchronized attack, so help us out for a sec."
Kei just looked at him and hoped that the second-year would get the idea that he didn't want to do that.
"I can still go, too!" Chikara said, adjusting his shoes in the entrance of the gym, "There'll be three wing spikers but that's okay, isn't it? I wanna get the timing down."
"Wait... You aren't trying to become a regular, are you?" Ryunosuke said.
Chikara looked at Ryunosuke with a determined expression and said, "Don't think I'm gonna be warming that bench forever."
"Bring it on!" Ryunosuke shouted. "Daichi-san let's hurry up and do this."
"Let me rest for a bit," Daichi said.
Kei started to walk away from the team, with only Koushi noticing him leave.
"Good job," Koushi said.
The blond continued walking, not minding to say anything more to the people in the gym.
He walked along the covered walkway with an angry expression. In his thoughts ran the thoughts he'd gone through over for a lot of times already.
'It's just a club.'
The sentence he told you before, a belief that he still lives by.
The cost of lying is different to every situation but will always be there. Kei's brother lied before. Why? To protect his image for Kei? What nonsense. Akiteru's lie had taken both of Kei's trust in him and the small passion he had for volleyball.
'But my brother probably believed that he could be the ace if he tried hard. But so what if he did? Would it be worth all of that trouble?'
"Tsukki!"
Kei's eyes widened and turned around to look at the person who was calling him— not that he needed to look to confirm it. Once Tadashi stopped running, he had to catch his breath before talking.
