Kabanata 91: Bait

"The weak always die and the powerful ones will always come first."

Yeah right. That's how society thinks. But how could professor will kill his own son? Is he that merciless? I almost forgot na anak niya din pala ako. He can also kill me. But I don't consider him as a father nor I his son.

Anong motibo nila at bakit si Grey ang target nila? All this time I knew that their target is Christine, because she's a threat to Grey. Or are they fooling us to think na they're after Grey.

"This is a win-win for us..." Ani Anna. "Wait hold up...how can we be so sure na pagkakatiwalaan ka namin?"

"Maybe you're just distracting us at this very moment para may oras kayo may plano or something" sabi ni Tala. Anna rolls her eyes. "I don't have time to cause trouble for you guys" sabi ni Anna. Well played Anna.

"And if you think I'm absurd bakit pa kayo nakikinig sakin ngayon?" Tama nga naman siya. "I know you will like this deal"
She added.

"So anong mangyayari kung napatay nga namin si Grey? What will happen next?" I asked out of the blue, Tala rolls her eyes of disappointment. She crossed her arms.

"I'm leaving...I don't wanna listen to any of this" sabay walk out si Tala. Rae-il raised her hands too, and walks out same goes for Sergei. "Wait lang guys what if she's useful this time? At baka legit nga tong bargain na to?" Ani Cage. Alam kong nagkukunyari lang siya.

"We don't wanna risk our lives hindi kami feeling bayani na katulad niyong dalawa" sumbat ni Rae-il while smiling sarcastically.

"What you're just gonna give up like you gave up on Alex?" Biglang bato ni Cage.

Nahinto silang tatlo sa pintuan. Why bring up Alex right now? This isn't the time.

"Tignan niyo? I know Alex is still deep in your hearts at hindi magbabago yun"

"Kaibigan natin siya, at yung time na namatay siya wala tayong tiyansa na ipaglaban siya" he added.

"He died without fighting back" nakikita ko na pinipigilan niyang umiyak. Phew what an act.

"Pinanood lang natin siyang mamatay."

"Ngayon pa ba tayo susuko huh?" I can hear his voice cracks. Gusto kong tumawa. Pa simpleng pumasok na ang tatlo at naupo sa tabi.

Nilapit ni Sergei si Cage sakanya, he pats his shoulder to comfort him. Para mag add ng paawa effect.

"Well that's that." Ani Anna. "Are you still up to take revenge for your friend?"

We just looked at her, "I'll take that as a yes" she said. "You can trust me"

"And also I only used Vincent, he's my bait" she added.

Detective's POV

As I walk off the campus, because I can't bear any of this shit anymore. I just wanna take a sip of beer then off to bed. Pero kailangan ko pang hanapin si Zach bago ang lahat. I sighed. Bakit ko ba naisipan mag detective.

"Detective? Detective!!" May isa nanamang babae ang lumalapit saakin. Hinawakan niya ang braso ko. "N-nakita mo ba ang anak ko?" Tanong niya sakin.

"Ma'am hindi kayo pwede dito" hinahatak siya ng officer. "Z-Zach Remundo?" Ipinakita niya sakin ang litrato ni Zach. Nanay niya ito. Sinenyasan ko ang officer na ako na ang bahala.

She huffed. "H-hindi ko siya makita"

"Kahit sa mga katawan ng mga namatay di ko siya makita!" She kneeled to the ground. "Mrs. Remundo kilala ko ang anak niyo, hinahanap ko rin siya ngayon"
