Christian's POV
We were getting ready to celebrate the kid's first birthday. "Christian, I feel so sick," Cassie said coming down the stairs.
I turned around and looked at her, "Did I go too deep last night?"
"I don't think that's the problem this time." She grabbed her stomach and I raised my eyebrows.
"You're pregnant?" I went to rub her stomach.
"No what the fuck," She said and slapped my hand away. "I'm throwing up and I'm sore."
"Sore from our sex? I understand that but throwing up, you're sure you're not pregnant."
"Christian I got my fucking period this morning!" She yelled at me and then she walked to the kitchen. "I might have the flu or something."
"Eat something," I told her and she looked at me and rolled her eyes. Sassy Cassie was out and probably would be for the next three or four days. She went back upstairs without saying anything to me. "Okay I guess I'll set everything up by myself," I mumbled to myself.
"Yup that's exactly what you're going to do," She yelled and I was confused on how she heard me.
When the party started, Cassie came downstairs and she looked horrible. "Did you take medicine?" I asked her as she hugged me.
"No," She said and then let go. "I don't want to take anything for this."
"I literally don't understand why you won't do anything and you know that you are sick."
"Christian please don't be mean to me, I'm kinda emotional right now."
"Mama!" Mason yelled and ran to her leg and squeezed her.
"Hi baby," She said and rubbed his head.
"Kiss?"
"I'm sick baby," She said and he got sad. Cassie walked around and greeted everyone. The kids were having a blast with all their family and eating junk food. Cassie hardly let them eat bad so this was one of the times she would allow it. I honestly had no idea why she didn't let the boys eat whatever, because she didn't care what the two of us ate.
As I took a sip of my beer, I caught a glance of Emma walking on the beach behind our house. She seen me and smiled. I went down there and she just looked at me. "So, celebrating your kids' birthdays?"
I nodded and she just smiled. "Just to let you know, I think this is very inappropriate you're here."
"How else am I suppose to contact you Chris? You blocked me on everything."
"We aren't supposed to talk, that's the point. I'm with someone else, and have a family. You and I are never going to be together again. When we dated, it was a huge mistake."
"Okay. I guess if you're happy with her, I'm happy for you. Even seeing you with someone else makes me happy."
"Well yes you should be. I didn't break up with you, you broke up with me. But thank you because now I'm happily in love and living my best life."
She rolled her eyes and kept walking. I went back to the patio and then Cassie looked at me. "What the hell was that?"
"Me talking to Emma."
"Oh but when I talk to someone from my past, it isn't alright?"
"Cas I told her it was inappropriate she was here. I said I'm happy with you, Mason and Noah."
"Oh. Sorry then." I nodded and then continued drinking my beer. After a while, both of our moms got pictures of us with the boys. We lit the candles, and we sang happy birthday to them. At the end of the song they blew the candles out with the help of Cassie and I.
