It was another cool Autumn day, and Pumpkin and Georgie were hanging around the park as they usually did when they were off work. Georgie had just thrown a ball for Pumpkin to fetch, and it had went farther than either of them had expected. Pumpkin went to retrieve it as usual though not wanting another dog to get her toy.

Pumpkin quickly ran from the bench where Georgie was sitting, and ran to where the ball had went which was right by the entrance of the park. She did not make it quite that far though as she heard a familiar bark. That scared her so much.

Pumpkin quickly turned around trying to keep a composed look. "Why hello Fang I never thought I would see you here." Pumpkin growls lowly looking at the mud covered dog that was a little bigger than her. She saw the dog start to circle her. "Well if it's not little Pumpkin I never thought I would see you here either." Fang growled making Pumpkin shiver.

" You know sis. We really could of had a great life together. You and me the dynamic duo. But you just had to go running off." Fang told Pumpkin who snickered at the other dog. " That's half sister to you, and you kinda lost that chance when you um you know, tore my ear in half!" Pumpkin says still growling at her older half brother. Who was appropriately named.

Pumpkin and Fang use to be very close. And Fang was not just her half brother but her best friend. But once they were abandoned on the streets that all changed.. Fang started getting into things with the wrong crowds, and one time he was told to hurt Pumpkin, and he actually did it.

That was how Pumpkin had ended up a packless stray, because after her half brother betrayed her she could not bring herself to trust another stray dog; well any stray animal.

It was also the reason Pumpkin started looking for an owner. Pumpkin had live the first four months of her life. In a family that Fang had said never wanted her. When the family finally did drop them on the streets. Pumpkin never wanted to give humans another chance, but Fang's betrayal, made her rethink her choice as all the other humans she had observed with their pets were sweet, and loving. What Pumpkin really learned from all this is that Fang was a lying traitor.

Pumpkin was afraid though and really did not want to deal with this so she forgot the ball, and tried to go back to where Georgie was, but Fang blocked her, "Not so fast pup." Fang growled out blocking Pumpkin's path. Pumpkin whimpered looking around for another way to her owner, "Please just leave me alone I do have an owner and she will be here any minute now" Pumpkin told Fang as she knew Georgie must be looking for her by now, as it has never taken Pumpkin this long to get a ball.

Fang just snickered, "If that were true she would be with you." Fang told Pumpkin who was tired of Fang, "She would be if she knew I was in trouble, and before you say anything you might regret later. Georgie is the best thing that happened in my life. If you say anything about my owner you will see a totally different side of me you do not want to see." Pumpkin warned Fang really just trying not to get into a fight until Georgie got to her, but meaning every word she had said. Pumpkin then pricked her ears as she sees Georgie.

"Oh look here she comes now I would leave if I were you. You don't want to mess with a mad Georgie trust me." Pumpkin tells Fang who turned around but stayed in his stance looking like he was about to attack. Pumpkin was ready to dodge but thankfully she didn't have to as she heard the older dog whimper.

Pumpkin looked up to see her owner now standing between her and Fang, who she must have lightly kicked out of her way. Giving the look Pumpkin knew as the Don't you dare look. "Get out of here mutt. And don't mess with my dog again, otherwise it's going to be more than a little kick." Pumpkin heard Georgie tell Fang as she felt herself being picked up, by Georgie causing her to wag her tail.

"Are you okay Pumpkin." Georgie asked as they sat back down on the bench. Pumpkin barks and wags her tail, "I'm fine thanks for the help that could have ended badly." Pumpkin thought as she lays down on Georgie's lap. "I'm taking that as a yes." Georgie says stroking the pups ears.

Pumpkin nods as she sits up beside Georgie, "Yeah let's just never run into him again." Pumpkin says in a bark Georgie somewhat understanding what that meant, "Don't worry I don't think you'll have to worry about him for a while, and don't worry I won't let him or anyone else hurt you girl." Pumpkin heard Georgie reassure her.

Pumpkin stood up and barked happily, "I know that, and I will do the same for you if anyone who is a threat to you." Pumpkin says looking at her owner. As Pumpkin jumps down and purposely rolls in the dirt, making Georgie groan as she picked the dog up. "Why did you do that huh Diva Dog. Now I'm going to have to wash you again." Georgie asked the pup annoyed by Pumpkin who was always getting dirty. Pumpkin just shakes her fur, "Exactly." Pumpkin thought as she got into the car.
