How To Calm A Nervous Doctor

"Hi Miss Georgie! " Cal calls out excitedly  as Georgie  enters his hospital  room." Georgie  just smiles at the young boy putting  her stuff down.

"Hey bud you look like you're doing  better." Georgie  says with a smile ruffling his thinning hair playfully.  Cal was one of her favorite  patients other than the mighty  helpers. The ten year old boy had leukemia  and like Matt was fighting  for his life. You wouldn't  be able to tell though.  Even though  the boy knew thoroughly  what  was  going on that never stopped him from being hopeful.

"Yeah I feel better I guess. I hate chemo though. " Cal says as Georgie  nods in understanding as she felt bad for the ten year old.

"I can't  help with that, but I think I can you feel a bit better." Georgie  says grabbing  a stuffed animal in her bag, and some art stuff. Cal immediately  brightens up at the sight of the gifts.

"No way a build a bear Toothless, that's  so awesome! You didn't  have to buy me that!" Cal says looking  at the black dragon as Georgie  smiles looking  at all his collection  of dragons and shrugs.

"They had a sale for buy one get one, and I don't  need a bear. I saw him and instantly  thought of you." Georgie says as Cal smiles.

"Thank you! Um…. Miss Georgie, would you stay and play monopoly with me?" Cal asks as Georgie  nods in agreement she was off work today and she knew Cal loved that game.

"Why not I have a few hours to kill, I bet I'll beat you!" Georgie  told the boy who laughed with a smirk as Pumpkin  goes beside Cal and Mira stayed right by Georgie.

"I call the dog piece!" Cal says grabbing  the silver playing piece as Georgie  sighs grabbing the cat piece and putting  it  on the starting block.

…….

"Don't  mind me." the young doctor of Cal says quietly  checking  Cal out as they continued in the game that had lasted an hour and a half so far.

"Hi Miss Dr. Saanvi!" Cal days causing Saanvi to nod in acknowledgement before quickly  leaving  after doing  her job Georgie  just looks at Cal her empathic abilities  were going  off.

"Hey, bud I've  gotta get something  from my car. I'll  be  right  back  okay. "Don't  take any money from the bank while I'm gone." Georgie told the boy looking  at Mira. "Come on girl." Georgie told the mixed breed who nods following Georgie. 

"Dr. Bahl, are you okay?" Georgie asks, coming  out  of Cal's room Mira trailing behind. Saanvi just turns around in surprised not expecting  the young therapist to have followed her.

"Uh yes… i… I just spent  the night researching  a better cure for leukemia  and I'm  exhausted.  But, well Miss McCall, will you keep it a secret?" Saanvi asks as Georgie  just nods it was kind of her job. "I think I found it… but I haven't  been able to test them out on actual patients yet to see how they react." Saanvi says quickly as Georgie nods trying  to process what Dr. Bahl had said.

"That's  great I thought as a cancer researcher  and doctor you  would be a bit more excited about  it. " Georgie  says in confusion  as Saanvi sighs.

"I am… I am absolutely  thrilled… but cancer is so hit or miss… what if it doesn't work… Miss McCall I don't  know  you personally, but your reputation  precedes you. Do you think it'll  work. I don't  want to get anyone's  hopes up in vain." The doctor says nervously as Georgie  looks at Saanvi and sighs.

"Dr. Bahl, I have met so many kids with so many types of cancers,  and I have spent countless  hours being there for their last breaths. If you think you have a cure then test it, and even if it doesn't  work at least you tried." Georgie  told her as the doctor nodded.

"Thank you, you are very good at what you do like Emily  says Miss McCall." Saanvi says as Georgie  nods looking  at Mira  who was lying  beside her, having gotten bored as Georgie  and Saanvi  talk. "Miss McCall, can I pet your  puppy?" The doctor asks as Georgie  nods

"Of course it's kinda Mira's job, and please call me Georgie.  Miss McCall is way too formal for my liking." Georgie says as Saanvi nods, picking up the small dog.

"There is no need for formalities  for me either, just call me Saanvi. I am honestly  getting tired of being called Doctor I want to just be called by my name, but I guess getting  a doctorate  is a big deal." Saanvi says as Georgie  nods in understanding.

Well Saanvi I better get back to Cal before  he steals all the money from the bank. I'll  see you around." Georgie  says as Saanvi nods.

"I'm sure we will. I mean we both work here we're  bound to bump into each other sometime." Saanvi says as Georgie  nods.

"Yeah and my number is in the login book so if you ever need me call me." Georgie  says as Saanvi see you later Georgie thank you for calming  my nerves." Saanvi says as Georgie  nods, heading  back to Cal's room noticing that a few people  inside must be his family.  Georgie  went to go check on someone else to give the family  space, but Michaela noticed her.

"Hey Georgie,  we're  finally  here at the same time as Georgie  nods. "Come meet the rest of our  family. " Cal calls out when hearing Michaela say Georgie  names Georgie  just sighs and nods. She grabs Mira lead slowly going in the room that held two adults and a girl Cal's age she has never met in her life. This was going  to be awkward  at least on Georgie's  side it would be. Meeting  the family was always a bit awkward  for her for some reason, but they looked nice hopefully  they wouldn't  verbally attack her like some others did. This would be fine.
