An Adopted Puppy

A brown and white puppy lies on the cold metal floor of her kennel waiting and hoping for someone to pick her. She just wanted to be out of this place, and her time was running out as she only had two days before she was being euthanized, and there was no other way to escape this horrible place of barking dogs

The puppy then sighs going over to where the gate was and looking over to where her best friend was "Hey Seashell, hey Clover" she barked out to her two best friends across the kennel door. "Oh hey Mira I wonder if today is our lucky day" Seashell says as the other two roll their eyes, "Sea we were born in this prison, and we'll most likely die in it." Clover says sadly as Mira sighs as she nods, "Yeah I mean I'm going to die in two days. They have Their process and mine will end soon if someone doesn't adopt me by Friday." Mira says quietly as the other ones sigh and nod.

"Don't worry I'm sure we'll find our owners before our death dates we just have too!" Seashell says hopefully when someone came in, "Well that's our cue let's hope one of us gets picked today" Clover says quietly as one of the humans come to Mira's friends cages. "It's the guy from yesterday he told me he was coming back!" Seashell barks happily wagging her tail as Clover wagged his tail the one that was going to adopt both of us?" He questions as Seashell, "Yep that's the one and look he got collars and leashes he's actually adopting us." Seashell says as Mira smiles at her friends.

"Congrats you two now I just need to find a home." Mira says sadly as she was watching her two best friends leave. But was also super glad that they got their new life. Sadly she probably wouldn't get hers. The two other dogs just sigh as they are let out of their cage. "Thanks and don't lose hope someone who will love you will find you." Seashell says trying to nuzzle Mira through the barrier, Clover doing the same.

Mira nods, "Don't worry I won't and we will see each other again." Mira says confidently as the others nods, "Alright till we meet again I guess." Clover tell them as her two best friends walk. Mira sighs flopping down on the cement floor no one was going to adopt such a quiet puppy she didn't have a voice loud enough to carry over the big dogs. Plus who would want a mix breed?

Mira woke up the next day with a sigh today was Thursday her last day to be adopted. She didn't have any hope for it though as she knew she was a lost cause. She looked at where her two had been at to see two new dogs in their place. Her handler must be right, rescue is like a river if you keep every dog it's going to get blacked up. And Mira had already accepted her fate. What she wasn't expecting was footsteps coming by her kennel, to see her handler. "Mira, I got some great new for you. I think I found somebody. Who will adopt you." He said as Mira looks at him in shock he had to be pulling her tail their hadn't been anyone looking at her. But she had a leashed put on anyways, and was led to the meeting room.

There the door opened and to her surprise someone was actually in there could this be real?" The puppy walks in tentatively seeing a kind looking young woman. She wags her tail slowly as she shows herself to her. Before hearing something she hadn't heard spoken to her, "Well hello there aren't you a cute puppy.". The puppy wagged it's tail even happier someone actually thought of her knotted white and brown fur cute she wanted this lady to adopt her so she jumps up on her lap. Making the lady smile and laugh, "Hello I'm Georgie what's your name pup?"

The puppy just barks happily, "I'm Mira it's nice to meet you Georgie. Will you please adopt me it will save my life." The puppy barked out making Georgie smile, "I bet your going to be like Pumpkin huh, you look just as determined as she was when I met her. Do you want to go home with me pup." Georgie asked as Mira was wagging her tail she was definitely determined to get out of this prison. And Georgie already seemed so nice, and did she mention another dog she would love to make another friend especially since her other two left the day before. "Yes please, please, please!" The puppy barked.

"Alright then Pup, how much is she?" Georgie asked making Mira look at her in shock this was really happening she was going to a home she was going to be able to go place. "She is free to a good home we were just trying to get rid of her since she was supposed to be euthanized tommorow." Mira trembled at the word as Georgie nods, "I'm glad I'm adopting her then. Oh and what is her name?" Mira heard Georgie ask.

"Oh we call her Mira but you can rename her if you like. Thank you again for taking her she is great with dogs, and deserves this so much." It's no problem. My dog Pumpkin needs a friend and I think Mira would be perfect, and I'm glad I could save her life." Georgie says picking up the puppy. "Thanks again" Georgie says as she picks up the puppy.

Mira still couldn't believe it she found a home.

After a twenty minute drive Mira felt the car stop in front of a huge apartment building. This was her new home. Mira had followed her owner Georgie into a thing that moved up she believes Georgie called it an elevator.

She then saw Georgie walk in front of her opening the door, "Pumpkin, I'm home with a new friend." Mira heard her owner call out as white and muddy dog come out from under the bed. "Oh hey Georgie, I was just under the bed I totally wasn't with my friend playing in the dirt. The dog says as Georgie looked at the dog, "Seriously Diva Dog I was only gone for an hour and you come back looking like a mud monster." Georgie scolded as Pumpkin sighs. Mira just cocks an eyebrow in amusement.

As Pumpkin notices her and growls, "What are you doing in my home?" Mira quickly flinched back retreating to Georgie's legs, "Pumpkin be nice this is Mira, Mira this is my pup Pumpkin. Pumpkin Mira is going to be staying with us so get use to it." Georgie says as Pumpkin huffs, "Sorry for the misunderstanding let's start over I'm Pumpkin it's nice to meet you Mira." Pumpkin says as Mira nods her head, "It's nice to meet you too Pumpkin. So what's it like living in a family?" Mira asked as she really didn't know.

Pumpkin just smiled and wagged her tail, "It is amazing and you got lucky Georgie is the best owner ever she reads to me she let's me sleep on her bed, and she even let's me go to work with her, and don't get me started on the pup sitters who watch me we have been on some crazy adventures." Pumpkin rambled out Mira just nodding trying to understand. "That sounds amazing." Mira says.

"Well go on tell me about what your life was like." Pumpkin barked out before they both heard Georgie say, "The hospital is calling me I need to take this I'll be just outside. Diva Dog don't you try anything." Pumpkin huffs but nods, "Fine." Once Georgie left Pumpkin asked her question again, "Well go on tell me about what your life was like." Mira just sighs, "Well I lived in a kennel all my life with my best friends. They just got adopted yesterday. I only got to see the light of day when we went on a walk which was only about five minutes. Now Georgie has adopted me and here I am." Mira explained.

"Oh wow that's so hard to believe! I can't imagine living like that. Well welcome home come let's lie down. It's getting late and you must be exhausted. ". Pumpkin says jumping on the bed the pup just looks at her, "Wait we sleep on the actual bed?" Mira asked in disbelief as Pumpkin nods, "Of course now hop on and welcome to our family." Pumpkin says. Mira jumps up on the bed for once feeling content this was all she ever wanted. She could tell this was going to be an amazing life.

Georgie came in a few minutes later and Mira immediately heard her groan, "Pumpkin your muddy, now I got to wash you and the blankets both pups jusy laugh, "Your a troublemaker Pumpkin." Mira says with a laugh. "Yes I am." She says not regretting a word making Mira laugh even harder this was her new home, and she was excited to see what adventures she got into.
