Hey everyone I'm going to take a break from my usual one shots and do something a little different due to the fact I'm writing my story Together As One We Stand so I'm writing with writing more background for my OCs also Diamond's house cat name is Emmie. I hope you enjoy

Did not proofread.

An orange tabby kitten was sitting down on the edge of a windowsill looking out at busy New York City. Another kitten sits beside her this one a tortieshell kitten and looked to be slightly younger then the orange one.

"Hey Treasure have you ever wondered what it would be like to be free from this apartment?" The Orange kitten asked the tortieshell one, "No Emmie I haven't." Treasure said to the orange cat who sighs she has always wanted to be free, and not deal with the coddling life anymore. Little did she know that her wish would soon come true.

………

Their owners had been gone for day and Emmie was starting to get worried. Their female owner had been so sick lately that Emmie had thought the worst had happened, but surprisingly it didn't as they came back home that day with a bundle in their arms.

"What is that Treasure asked her and Emmie shrugs, "How am I supposed to know!" Emmie says snarkily making her sister back down, "Alright sorry I asked Treasure says feigning hurt making Emmie laugh, "You know I can see right through you right." Treasure begins to laugh too "Yeah I know."

The two cats nervously walk to their owners looking at the bundle to see a live creature, making both cats look in surprise. "A baby I thought we were the babies how could they betray us like that." Treasure asks making Emmie groan, "I don't know, but our lives are about to change for better or for worse I can't tell though." Emmie told her younger sister before sitting back at the windowsill not wanting anything to do with the baby, as she knew everything would be blamed on her anyway as she technically was the oldest.

………

A few weeks later Emmie wasn't surprised to be thrown on the streets. Things had not been going well between the kittens and the baby and Emmie knew they would be thrown out sooner or later what she didn't expect was that Treasure was thrown out with her. Treasure was the perfect house cat while Emmie wasn't she wanted to be an alley cat, but Treasure didn't. Treasure didn't deserve this. Emmie got up pulling her sister closer "Come on Treasure we need to get out of here before someone tries to take us to the pound." Emmie says, but Treasure immediately disagreed, "A pound isn't actually a bad idea they can find a new home for us." Treasure told Emmie.

Emmie groans, "Or they could separate us and then we wouldn't have each other. I think street living is best for us." Emmie says while Treasure scoffs, "We don't even know how to hunt trust me being put in the pound is better." Treasure says as Emmie scoffs. This time, "You know maybe we should go our separate ways we're definitely not seeing eye to eye anymore. I'm not the house cat you want me to be I need to be free and to be able to be what I want to be this is my chance." Emmie says.

Treasure growls, "You never think about any but yourself" Emmie was taken aback but quickly came up with a come back as Treasure never thought about what Emmie wanted either, "Well I can blame you of the same thing," Emmie says before adding, "Let's just go our separate ways before something bad happens. Because I still love you but I can't live in another house as a pet..."

"Fine." Treasure say walking right in the middle of the road right as a car was coming, before Emmie could do anything Treasure was hit by the car. "Treasure!" Emmie yelled out in terror as she quickly grabs Treasure pulling her back onto the side walk. Emmie panicked at some of the broken bones, and she couldn't believe she let her sister go she shouldn't have she would still be alive if it wasn't for her.

Wait no it wasn't because of her if that baby never came into their owners lives then this wouldn't have happened at all." That day before she left Treasure she made a vow never to get near humans again, and to never love anyone again. She was now a lone cat, and it was time to act like it.

………

A year and a half passed and Emmie was now No Name one of the fiercest street animals nobody bothered her and she preferred that way in fact most of the streets animals had a code word for when she was coming.

"Diamond." one dog yelped as Emmie walked passed growling as she grabbed a mouse and headed off to Broadway Park.

Emmie smirked as she continues through a street taking a different way then usual walking into a territory of a muddy white dog. Who growled Emmie quickly and snarkily said, "Oh you dogs are so pathetic don't worry I'm not staying just passing through." The cat told the white dog as she jumped onto the dumpster with ease.

"You're a cat?!" The white dog says sniffing curiously yet cautiously at where the animal just stood. Before being interupted by Emmie.

"Yeah way to state the obvious mutt." The Emmie said unamused by the statement as she knew full well she was a cat. As she started to lick her paws to clean herself.

"Hey! I'm not a mutt I am purebred Maltipoo." The white dog told the Emmie taking offense at what the cat called her.

Emmie rolled her eyes, "That is two breed a purebred is only one. Which makes you a mutt." The cat explained still cleaning herself on the edge of the dumpster.

The dog  huffed at the cats rudeness. "Well since it looks like your not leaving what is your name?" The white dog asked Emmie as the dog knew she could not force the cat out as she could not jump that high.

Emmie tried to decide what to tell her as she didn't want to use Emmie as it brought back bad memories but she didn't want to say no name either so she decided on what the others animal called her, "I don't have a name, but others call me Diamond. As in Diamond in the rough." Diamond told the dog before asking, "What is yours leashed dog?"

The pup cocked her head in confusion, "What is a leash dog, and my name is Pumpkin." The maltipoo told the orange cat who nods

" Well Pumpkin a leashed dog is a term us alley cats use for dog who want or have an owner. I don't know why they would though when they can be free to go where they please and do what they want." Diamond told the dog.

Pumpkin cocked her head again, " Your words may be true for some dogs and cats, but haven't you ever wondered what it is like to actually be cared for to get cleaned. And get food that you do not have to hunt and fight for." Pumpkin questioned trying to get Diamond to see that wanting to be an animal on a leash wasn't actually that bad of a deal.

The cat just shook her head, "I have once in a while, but I enjoy my freedom a bit to much. Despite how hard it is to maintain sometimes. The truth is pup I rather be a loner. I don't need no pack, and I most definitely don't need an owner who will baby me." Diamond admitted before looking at the pup again though, " I'll tell you what though I will help you find an owner. Only because you don't look very street smart, and you'll get killed if you stay out here any longer." Diamond told Pumpkin snidely before jumping down from the dumpster. Letting Pumpkin finally get a very good look at the cat

"How can I know you aren't trying to trick me." Pumpkin asked the orange cat who shrugged.

" You can't, but please have a little faith in me as they say I'm a diamond in the rough, but I still have a good heart." Diamond told Pumpkin who sighed and nodded.

"Alright I trust you if it means I can get an owner." Pumpkin told Diamond who smirks as she starts leading the way to Broadway Park. Not knowing helping this dog would change her life forever.
