The Lullaby

This kind of goes along with the one  shot I posted earlier. And this was contains Thorn, Dove and Tyson. Mother/ pup relationship.

"Thorn, Thorn?"  Dove asked very early one morning her body wracking with shivers from the winter cold. She had been trying to keep warm but her muddied fur wasn't doing much to break the chill. Not to mention she had just had a nightmare about losing her pack all together.

Of course she knew there were three others members she could wake up, but she had always felt safest talking to Thorn so she continues to nudge the sleeping dog, "Thorn please wake up please!" She begged and whimpers quietly trying not to wake the other pack members. Before she could say anything else she felt another body by her and looked to see Tyson shivering violently he was not made for this cold weather.

Dove walked closer to him knowing that her body heat would help. Now she really had to get Thorn up. "Thorn!" both animals call out making the older dog jolt up in panic as she had just had a nightmare of her own, and the voices of the scared pups. Just made it worse until she calmed down.

"Pups what are you doing up the moon hasn't even finished six-eigths of it's journey yet. Thorn asked quietly and soothingly.

Dove just looked at her whimpering, "Thorn I'm freezing and I had a nightmare." Dove whimpered making the bigger dog sigh quietly as she readjusted herself on making more room for the two pups before looking at Tyson worriedly. Tyson come here I'm warm and you have to be freezing. Come on Dove you too " Thorn told the animals as they went beside Thorn, who put her fluffy tail against their bodies like a blanket.

"Alright Dove what did you dream about?" Thorn asks quietly not wanting to wake Jade or Diamond in the process of getting these two to sleep.

Dove sigh curling up tighter under Thorn's tail, "Well... It was about you and the pack.... You um were... Killed... And it just really scared me to be alone." Dove told Thorn who nods.

Thorn had, had that dream before and it always scared her to death so now she could understand why Dove needed comfort in the early, early morning. "It's okay Dove we're all safe and sound. The only thing that can hurt us right now is that cold wind. Do you think you can go back to sleep now?" Thorn asked quietly.

Dove shook her burrowing as far as she could into Thorn. "Thorn please can I please, please sleep with you tonight?" Dove begs quietly wanting so much to just stay in Thorn's warm presence with Tyson, who was now warmer and feeling better.

Thorn nods her head, "Sure, but only for tonight okay!" Thorn told the pup as she liked her head back down looking at the two younger dogs, "Goodnight you two." She says as she watches the pups.

About a half hour later Dove and Tyson groaned as they could not get to sleep. Thorn sighs, "Can't sleep huh?" Thorn asks quietly as the other two nod their head. Thorn sighs. "Do you want to hear a song my mother use to sing for me when I couldn't get to sleep?" Thorn asks as Dove and Tyson nod

"Yes please!" They both bark quietly but enthusiastically. Making Thorn smile softly as she began to hum, and then softly sing

Hush little pup rest your head
Tomorrow has a full day ahead
Of fun and play almost all day
Hush little pup and rest your head.

Hush little pup and close your eyes
A million stars shine tonight.
If you lose your way look to their light
Hush little pup and close your eyes

Hush little pup and dream big
Those dream still could happen yet.
Let your dream be sweet and cute and true
Hush little pup and dream big.

With that Thorn stopped looking at the two pups that we're about to fall asleep. Thorn smiled at them before licking their heads, "Sleep well you two." Thorn said quietly still watching over them even after they fell asleep.

………

The next morning Thorn was startled awake by her packmates. She had not gotten a lot asleep the night due to the pups, but it was worth it in her eyes, even if it meant being tired and slightly sore today.

Cause Thorn admits it she is a mother hen, but at least her pack members knew they could come to her if needed. And she adored everyone of them.

The lullaby she had sung was Dove's and Tyson's favorite thing and now she sang it to them every night before bed.
