This takes place a few weeks after Dog Fight.

Today was one of those days when Georgie had went to work by herself, and Pumpkin was on her own. It had been a few weeks since her ear got torn, and now it was as healed as it was going to get. Today Pumpkin had planned on finding her friend Diamond who she has not seen since the incident. Which made Pumpkin extremely worried, as she at least saw Diamond watching her most of the time.

Pumpkin headed down one of the busy streets of  New York scenting for the unique smell of her friend, but not catching it. "Come on Diamond where are you."  Pumpkin asked looking around all her senses zoned into her search.

After about an hour of searching some of Diamond's favorite places Pumpkin was about to give up her search. When she heard a grunt and something falling she quickly turn her nose that way smelling the undeniable smell of Diamond, and... blood. Yeah that was definitely the other smell. Thankfully it was in fact old though, and Pumpkin had to guess it was from when she had attacked Fang a few weeks prior.

Pumpkin slowly followed Diamond's scent, not wanting to scare her cat friend. She followed the scent to an unfamiliar alleyway where she observed Diamond, and what she saw made her heart drop. The usual orange cat was caked in dried blood, she had quite a few injuries scattered all over her body, not to mention one of her ear had the same fate as Pumpkin's.

Pumpkin whimpers seeing all the cat had gone through to protect her. Pumpkin quickly entered the territory and went over to her friend, "Diamond did Fang do this to you Pumpkin asked making the orange cat turn around trying to hide a wince. "Oh hey Pumpkin, and yeah he did. His pack picked the right name for him. Thankfully they gave me the right name too." Diamond told Pumpkin who nods still looking at the cat.

" I really think you should go to the vet you look awful." Pumpkin suggested making the alley cat roll her eyes,  "Pumpkin that was not my first fight most likely won't be my last. I'm fine I just haven't been able to clean myself yet as I was waiting for them to heal." Diamond told the dog reassuringly as knew Pumpkin felt bad, even though it was Diamond's choice to protect her.

"I'm glad your ear healed up, and I'm sorry I didn't push him out of the way fast enough I didn't want you to get hurt, but you did." Diamond told Pumpkin who shakes her head. Why was Diamond apologizing? Diamond had put her life at risk to save Pumpkin. Pumpkin should be the one to apologise for leaving Diamond alone to fight him. Though she didn't really have a choice.

"Diamond why are you sorry, you saved me, you fought a dog two times bigger then you just to make sure I wouldn't be messed with. Why did you do it Diamond why did you protect a "leash dog"  like me?" Pumpkin asked confused as even though Diamond's injuries didn't kill her another street animal could have if they found out she had hurt one of her own to help a leashed dog. Diamond shrugged, "Because you're my friend Pumpkin and I didn't want you to get hurt." Diamond tells Pumpkin as she sits down.

" Yeah, but now you have to keep an even better eye out for enemies." Pumpkin says as Diamond groans getting a little fed up with this conversation. "Oh well. I'm an alley cat welcome to my life." Diamond says annoyance in her voice. Pumpkin nods, " Alright since all is forgiven I'm going to go home my owner will be home for her lunch break soon and I don't want to miss her." Pumpkin told Diamond who nodded, " I'll walk you I need to go to the park's pond to get cleaned because reddish brown does not look good on me." Diamond says looking at the dried blood on her orange coat

Pumpkin nods, "Alright and yeah I agree you definitely need to get cleaned." Pumpkin says playfully to Diamond who smirked, " What are you implying that I'm dirty mutt?!" The cat asked playfully making both laugh as they head towards Pumpkin's home.
