Pumpkin and Diamond were both lying lazily under one of the benches at central park. Pumpkin had once again escaped from Lola her dog sitter, and had made it to Diamond's territory. Where both decided to head to the Balto statue.

It was a nice spring afternoon, and the sun was warming their back as they looked at the statue in a comfortable silence. That is until, "Hey Diamond have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a hero?" Pumpkin asked the cat.

Diamond sighs and turn her head towards her head, "What do you mean by that Leashed dog?" Diamond asks as she resituates herself under the bench. Still looking at the dog quizzically. "I mean to be able to save people, and people would know you." Pumpkin explained to the cat who shook her head.

" In that case no; because I am a hero, even if it goes unseen." Diamond told the dog casually yet confidently. Pumpkin cocked her head, " What do you mean Diamond."

Diamond laughed dryly using her tail to caress one of Pumpkin's torn ears, and then gesturing to her own torn ear, making Pumpkin yelp in realization. "Oh I have almost forgot about that now. You're right you are a hero. I wish I was one." Pumpkin says sadly head hung low making Diamond look at her in confusion. How could Pumpkin not see that she was a hero. Pumpkin saved lives everyday.

Diamond sighs before getting an idea of what to say, "You know not all heroes wear capes right Pumpkin, well let's rephrase it not all animals have the same purpose." Diamond told Pumpkin making Pumpkin look at her confused. "What do you mean Diamond."

Diamond got up, and starts walking away motioning for Pumpkin to follow. Pumpkin still confused quickly ran to walk flank to flank with Diamond. "Where are we going?" Pumpkin asking getting an irritated groan from Diamond who gets annoyed with those kind of questions. "You'll see when we get there." Diamond told the dog who huffed.

"You know Pumpkin you are a hero." Diamond tells the dog slowing her pace to a walk. And looking at the white dog. "I'm not a hero I'm just a therapy dog." Pumpkin told Diamond who flicks her tail as she stops completely, " Here we are, and yes exactly! You're a therapy dog you help kids, teens, adults, and seniors everyday. Which is much more than I can say for myself." Diamond told Pumpkin looking at the tree she had taken her to. Engraved in the tree by other animals were the words, loyal, brave, wise, courageous, helpful, honest, and selfless.

"This is a tree that I call the hero tree. Some other the alley animals made this when they did something rememberable. They made it for we could remember what a true hero is. " Diamond told Pumpkin who cocked her head.

"This tree is amazing, and I guess you're right I am a hero. I guess everyone is in someway." Pumpkin says as Diamond nods, " Yeah everyone is a hero in their own way. Other then Fang..." Diamond says making Pumpkin laugh, " Yeah Fang is definitely not a hero, he'll probably never be."  Pumpkin told the cat as she continued to admire the old tree. Before anything else could be said Pumpkin got scooped up making both animals look in surprise. The orange cat quickly hiding in the bushes.

"Pumpkin why are you in Central Park this time, and I thought we had an agreement to not run off on me again. You know Georgie doesn't like me losing you." Pumpkin hears Lola says as she looks to the bush where Diamond was hiding.

"Looks like I have to go. Thanks for the fun day alley cat." Pumpkin barked out seeing the bush move. " Your welcome leash dog see ya around." She heard Diamond mew before turning her attention back to Lola.
