"You ready for your surgery little one?" I asked as I walked into the room.

I had hired out my surgery room for the entire day, and it's extended for however long my patient is in here for. After my little incident on Thursday, I have stayed away from alcohol and have just thrown myself into my work. I haven't heard anything from Ryan and Sophia, Jaden must've really scared them with his badge.

Leela was sat there on the bed in the pink hospital gowns we have for her. She was swinging her legs, her having been sat on the side, and talking to Jaden who was sat in front of her. The good thing about this room is that it's got the glass connecter, so if he wants, he can go into that room and see how things are doing.

"I think so." She said, her voice a little shaky.

"Don't worry sweetheart, you'll be completely fine. And I promise you, this will be the last surgery you have for a very long time." I smiled as I got her IV set up. "Just lay down on the bed for me, do you want to hold your toy?" I asked as she nodded and took the toy bear that Jaden held in his hands.

"I don't want to daddy." She cried as she turned to Jaden. I wasn't going to put the IV in until I knew she was comfortable. He sighed and squatted down so he was eye level with her.

"It's just one more baby. After this you'll have no more. Do you think you can do one more? Be the big brave girl I know you are?" He asked as he ran his hand through her hair.

"Will you hold my hand?" She cried as she turned towards him. He smiled and brought his hand up to her, interlocking their fingers.

"Of course I will baby." He said as he kissed her forehead.

"You ready Lee Lee?" I asked as I took the cap of the needle.

"Mhm." She whimpered out as she clenched her eyes shut and dug her head into Jaden's chest.

He cooed her and held her head as I pushed the needle into her skin. She cried when she felt it go through, but calmed down a little once the IV started to flow.

"You did so good baby." Jaden whispered as she started to shut her eyes.

"Bye bye daddy. Love you." She mumbled as her body went more limp.

"I love you too baby." He smiled as he kissed her forehead.

He stood up and started to pace around the room. He had tears streaming down his face as he stared at her body.

"No, don't do that. She'll be fine." I assured as I set up the scalpels.

"That's easy for you to say. You don't have your daughter sat in a hospital bed with a higher chance of dying than she does surviving this surgery." He shouted at me as more tears rushed his face.

"You're right. It is easy for me to say, because I know I won't let anything happen to your babygirl. I know how much you need her, and wouldn't dream of letting anything happen to her. She's going to wake up after this surgery, and you'll get to see her grow up. I promise you that." I said as I walked over to him.

I wrapped my arms around his body, and he rested his head on top of mine. He let out a shaky breath and pulled away. He walked over to his sleeping daughter and kissed her hand. He then stood up and walked out of the room. It was time to begin.

I had four other nurses in the room to help me, three actually doing the surgery, and one stood at the door. I also had Cassie stood in the room with Jaden, if he even is in there.

We were so close to finishing, I had removed the last of the scar tissue, when her body had a jolt. It caused me to make a small incision on her heart.

"Fuck. Dissolvable stitches, I need them now." I shouted as I pushed together the two sides of her heart.

A doctor had walked over and handed me the stitches. I had stitched her up perfectly fine, and everything was normal. We were about to start stitching her chest cavity back up, when the machine went haywire. Her heart rate was dropping rapidly, until the machine flatlined.

Because her chest was still open, we couldn't perform CPR. I could hear the glass being banged on and Jaden's faint shouts begging me to wake her up.

"Get Mr Hossler out of there now." I said to the nurse stood at the door. I promised him I wouldn't let her die.

I reached my hand and started to pump her heart manually, until it was strong enough to do it on its own. After thirty whole minutes of me pumping her heart, her heartbeat had started to pick up.

It had finally gotten stable enough to the point where I could do the stitching, and shut her chest again. I wiped her body down with saline, and put a bandage around her body. We removed the IV with the sleeping solution, and instead gave her and IV with a general anaesthetic in it.

I removed my gloves and coat, and walked out of the room. When I got out, I saw Jaden sat on one of the chairs, his leg bouncing like crazy and tears rushing down his face uncontrollably down his face. He was gripping his hair so tight to the point his knuckles turned white. As soon as he heard the doors behind me shut, he shot his head up to me. He ran up to me and held my arms tight.

"Please tell me she's alive. Please Roxy, I can't lose her." He begged as he continued to cry.

"She had us worried, but she will make a full recovery, and is on her way to waking up." I smiled at him.

What happened next was something I never expected. He had kissed me. I kissed back, his lips being slightly salty from his tears. My hands moved to his cheeks as I pulled his face closer to me. He pulled away and rested his forehead on mine.

"Thank you." He whispered before he reattached his lips to mine.
