"Thank you, thank you, thank you." He sighed as he picked me up and spun me around.
"Don't thank me." I laughed as he put me down.
"Can I see her?" He asked as he wiped his eyes. I probably shouldn't be letting him back, but I can't help it.
"Yeah, come on." I smiled as I took him through to the room.
I let him walk in in front of me because I needed to check the charts. But when I walked in I froze in place. Something wasn't right. My eyes scanned the room, looking for something out of place. They landed directly onto her IV, it was blue.
"Shit." I said as I rushed over to turn the IV off.
"What? Why'd you turn the drip off?" Jaden asked as he looked up. "Should it be blue?"
"No it shouldn't. Someone else has been in here and swapped her IV." I explained as I pressed the alarm. Soon lots of nurses had crowded around the room.
"I need someone to come and pump her stomach, I fear she's been given methylene. I also need someone to get the security feed for this room in the last twenty four hours as soon as possible." I said as they all nodded and scattered to do their respected job.
"What the fuck is going on Roxy?" Jaden demanded as soon as the room had cleared.
"I don't know. Someone swapped the IV and it's blue so I think it might be methylene, something she can overdose on, so I need to get her stomach pumped to stop her blood stream absorbing more than what it already has. This room is full of security cameras and so I'll know who did this within the hour. For now, as hard as it may be, I just need you to stay calm. She will be just fine." I said the last part as slowly as I could, not wanting to get him angry or frustrated with me.
"With all due respect, but how the fuck do you expect me to stay calm when you've just fucking told me that someone's drugged my four year old daughter out of her fucking mind?" He whisper shouted at me, knowing if he shouted regularly he'd be asked to leave. There was so much strain in his voice you could see the veins in his neck protruding.
"I know Jaden. But I promise, nothing will come out of you panicking." I said still calmly as I set up the machine that would pump her stomach. I got the tube out and walked over to her body.
"Where the fuck is that going to go?" Jaden asked as he saw the tube I was holding.
"Down her throat." I stated as I opened her mouth, not before he gripped my arms.
"I don't give my consent for you to do that." He rushed as I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Well then, congratulations Mr Hossler, you have just signed your own daughters death certificate." I said as I held the tube.
"What?" He asked shocked as he backed away.
"Her body is too small and weak to battle something like methylene, I understand that this will be hard to watch, if you want you can turn around or leave. But if you tell me that you don't give your consent, then there is nothing else I can do. Everything in her blood will pass by her stomach so it can feed into her liver. As soon as it gets there, it's game over. Her liver is too weak to not overdose her, it'll be too many toxins in her blood for it to sort through everything and poisoned blood will just feed back through her body. Are you sure that's the decision you want to make?" I asked as I explained what was happening.
"For fuck sake. Why is this so hard?" He cried as I looked at him shocked.
"Okay, simple question; do you want to see your daughter grow up, or not?" I asked him.
"Just fucking do it." He said as he turned to face the door.
I put the tube down her throat and stopped when the camera on the end showed her stomach. I then turned the machine on and all the liquid in her stomach started to get sucked out. It went through a filter, and collected all the poison.
I decided that her stomach was already reproducing the missing acid quick enough for me to not have to pump it back through. Once the liquid ran clear again, I took the pump out. I then placed her on a normal IV with anaesthesia.
"Hopefully she'll wake up soon. Are you going to arrest the person who did it?" I asked as I turned to him.
"Yes." He mumbled as he turned back around.
"Roxy?" Cassie's voice rang through my ears.
"Mhm." I said as I turned to her.
"You might want to look at this." She said as she held a copy of the camera footage.
"Thanks." I said as I took the usb from her hands and walked to my office.
I took Jaden in with me and plugged the usb in. I opened the file and played the video. Jaden looked away, not wanting to watch his daughter get cut open again. The video showed me accidentally cutting her, the half an hours worth of praying I could get her heart to beat by itself, and me sewing her up. It then showed me walking out of the room to Jaden.
I told Jaden he could look again, just in time to see the doors open. The person the video showed was none other than Matthew Henford.
"Well then." I said as Jaden stormed out of the room.
I got up and ran after him. I couldn't see him, until I head shouting and yelling coming from one corner. I looked over to see Jaden putting handcuffs on Matthew and getting his phone. I was going to go over when my pager went off, telling me that there was now movement in Leela's room. I decided that was more important and left to her room.

A/N - don't come for me but I don't know how pumping someone's stomach works. I had it done once but wasn't awake to know what was going on and I really couldn't be bothered to research that far into it. I just went with what sounded right and that's how we got here but oh well.Anyway, you can continue with your day with that knowledge :)
