Roxy pov
I had slept for about eight hours by the time I had woken up. Jaden was asleep in the chair opposite the bed, and Jordan was laid in her little bed by mine. It was seven o'clock when I woke up, and things started to get boring.
Amber had called Jaden's phone almost an hour after I had woken up, and was pleasantly surprised when I answered.
"Hello." I said down the phone in a cheery voice.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the lovely new mommy. How are you doing my darling?" She smiled as she waved to me through the phone.
"Tired, and in a bit of pain. But other than that, I've been great. The baby is great. Jaden's sleeping like a dead person as per usual." I laughed as she did too.
"If you wanna wake him up, pinch under his right ear. It sends him into a frenzy. But that's wonderful sweetheart." She smiled.
"If you guys want, you can come down. The visiting hours open in about ten minutes, and sleepy mcfuckface over there, is being boring." I laughed as I looked over to see Jaden with his mouth slightly agape.
"If you request our presence, we will be down within the hour. Goodbye my beautiful." She smiled as she waved through the screen.
"Goodbye." I smiled as I waved back and waited for the screen to turn black.
It had been five minutes of a painful silence. Until Jordan decided she was going to test the capacity of her lungs. Shockingly, Jaden didn't wake up from it, which made me slightly question how he dealt with Leela as a newborn. Because that girl can fucking scream until she passes out.
"Oh baby. Good morning to you too." I smiled widely as I picked her up and cradled her in my arms.
She just looked up at me with her big bright eyes that were shrouded by a layer of gloss. I removed on of my hands from under her and lightly ran my finger across her cheek. I watched as her lips slightly turned up. She nuzzled her head against my chest, indicating that she wanted to be fed.
"What? Why?" I heard a voice come from the corner of the room.
"What are you being dramatic about now?" I asked as I looked over at Jaden to see an unreadable look on his face.
"Why does she get to do that?" He whined.
"She's being fed, stop being an attention whore and let someone else have the spotlight." I argued as he scoffed.
"Rude." He mumbled as he walked over and took Jordan from me, she had just finished feeding so it was fine.
"Oh, your moms coming down with your dad and Leela." I said as he nodded, but didn't look too happy about it. "You don't looked very pleased about that. Why?" I asked as he looked at me from the corner of his eye.
"I'm not very happy with what Leela said to you yesterday. She needs to know that she can't just say that to you whenever she doesn't get what she wants." He said as he laid Jordan back down in her bed.
"Okay, but what you need to understand is that she is a child and she's going to have outburstS. While what she said was unacceptable, she said it to me and not to you, so I think I should be the one to deal with that." I stated simply.
"Okay, but as her parent, I need to make sure she doesn't pull that kind of shit in the future." He argued back.
Without realising it, he's just done the exact same thing. He's called himself her parent and completely disregarded the fact that I signed those papers, meaning I am also legally her parent.
"You do realise you've just done the exact same thing Leela did yesterday right?" I asked, making sure he knew what he's done.
"What? How?" He asked in a very defensive manor.
"You just called yourself her parent, which completely undermined my part as her legal parent." He opened his mouth to argue with me, but nothing came out when he realised I was right.
We fell into a silence. But not a peaceful one. It was one full of tension and awkwardness.
I felt my chest become heavy as I watched him sit down and look out the window, not even bothering to defend or correct himself. I felt my vision become blurry as I felt silent, hot tears stream down my face. In my mind, that was his way of showing he meant what he said, wether he knew what he was saying or not, he still meant the message behind it.
I laid back on the bed and turned to look at the monitors so he wouldn't see me crying. I heard him shuffling around after about five minutes, and I heard the door click. I looked up just in time to see him disappear out of the door, and close it behind him.
I sighed and sat up. I thought that he was ready for the change of me transitioning from Roxy to Leela's mom, considering he's the ones who got the papers, but I guess he made himself move too quickly. I looked over at Jordan, who was sleeping peacefully in her cot.
"Why does loving someone always have to come with a price?" I asked as I rested my chin on the side of the cot.
I watched as she slept peacefully and smiled, knowing that if things went wrong, I would always have her. I laid back in the bed and stared at the ceiling, listening to the sounds of the heartbeat monitor. The room was almost deathly silent.
I heard the door click, and I knew someone was going to come in. Part of me hoped it was Jaden so we could talk about what happened, instead of him ignoring it. But the other part of me was relieved when I saw Leela, Amber, and Craig walk through the door.
