Roxy pov

"Yeah, sure. Just take my cereal." I said sarcastically as I watched him sit on my counter. Make yourself comfortable much?

"I will thank you." He smiled at me with a mouthful of food. I grumbled under my breath before walking into the living room that was connected to the kitchen and started to pick up the dog toys scattered around.

"So what is wrong with you then? Because you seem perfectly fine to me." He said as the thumping against my skull started to intensify.

"How arrogant can you be? Just because someone looks fine doesn't mean they are fine." I state as I continue to put the dog toys away, but got distracted by playing tug of war with Rebel.

"You didn't answer my question." He said as he started to chew obnoxiously loud.

"Keep chewing like that and I'm shoving the spoon down your throat." I grit as Rebel started to playfully growl at me.

"Rox, stop avoiding the question." He said again.

"Why don't you mind your own business? And stop calling me Rox. You have no right to call me that." I said as I turned to glare at him. He raised an eyebrow at me.

"Oh come on Roxy, it's been three years. Let it go." He said as if it was a normal thing for people to experience.

"You know what? You're right. It's been three years. Which means in a few months I was supposed to be giving my brother his 18th birthday party. I was supposed to be giving him his first car. Because lord knows my mom and dad can't stay sober long enough to do it. I was supposed to be buying him his first apartment, helping him get his first job. Taking him to England like he's always wanted to do, just so he can get drunk this year, instead of having to wait another three years. But I can't. And do you want to know why? Because of you. You took that luxury away from me. I can't just get over it, because that boy was the one responsibility I had. I was supposed to keep him safe. I was supposed to do everything that my older brother didn't do for me. And I couldn't. Because the one day I let him out by himself, you have to go and pump him full of lead. So fuck you, stop fucking calling me Rox. The only person who could call me that was Liam. Now get out of my apartment. If you come here again, I will take things further." I threatened as he was now leaning against the doorframe.

"It wasn't that big of a deal Roxy. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was a mistake to open fire, but what's done is done and it can't be changed." He said as he picked up his coat.

"You know what? I can tell that you've never lost someone close to you. Because if you had, you wouldn't be like this. You kill people everyday. You cannot just shrug off a mistake like it's nothing. As a first responder, innocent people loves rest in your hands 24/7 and you cannot take that lightly Jaden. Now get the fuck out." I gritted as I opened the door and pointed to the hallway.

"If it's any consolation to you, I'm sorry." He said with a smile. But it wasn't a caring smile, it was a sinister one that told me straight away that he didn't mean it.

I was about to hit him out of sheer anger, but before my skin could collide with his, I dropped to the floor in a daze. I felt a pain shoot through the side of my head, before all I saw was black.

I watched as her eyes flipped. Whenever she gets angry her eyes get darker, and they deepen. Her pupils shrink, revealing her cold, icy blue eyes.

Her face contorted into something full of rage. I'm pretty sure if it was humanly possible, you would see steam pouring out of every orifice in her body. She raised her hand to hit me.

Even as a police officer she has no fear in harming me. Probably because she knows I won't do anything about it. It's really fun to piss her off.

I was expecting a pain to surge it's way through my cheek knowing she has a hard punch, especially with those rings, but it never came. So I looked up to see her eyes roll back slightly. Her legs caved in and she fell forwards onto the floor. She had hit her head on the skirting border in the hallway, and her eyes immediately shut.

"Shit." I mumbled as I reached down to turn her over.

I pulled out my phone to call an ambulance. I knew that it was going to be hard to get her out of here. She lives on the top floor of a relatively nice apartment building. I just say it's a dump to annoy her. I considered the options I had, and judging by the size of the elevator, it would be easier to just leave her here.

"911, what services do you require today?" The operators voice rang through.

"Ambulance please." I said as I looked down and saw blood forming at the base of where she hit.

"Address please." She said.

"Right, it's uh, top floor of the Winston building on 5th." I said as I looked up at her door. "Apartment 13A" why the fuck does this place have thirteen floors?

"Okay, that will take about five minutes to get there. Is the patient breathing?" She asked as I heard typing.

"Yes she is. Her name is Roxy Hawthorne." I said, I heard the voice gasp slightly through the phone. Roxy is well known, especially in the New York area. I rolled my eyes at the thought of someone getting that excited over it but left it alone because the paramedics had arrived.

"Look the paramedics are here, goodbye." I said as I hung up the phone.

"Detective." They said as I stood up.

I didn't say a word throughout the whole ordeal. I watched the hoist her onto the gurney and take her to the elevator. I went down with them and climbed in the back of the ambulance and they drove off.

"Oh my god. I told you to watch her. What the fuck happened?" They guy who I now remember is Peter, said as he rushed to Roxy's side.

"I did watch her. She passed out just before she was going to rearrange my face when I was leaving this morning." I said in a bored tone.

I watched as they wheeled her to a room and hooked her up to a machine.

"Your services are done here detective. You can leave now." A female nurse said as I saw behind her that they were preparing to change her into a hospital gown.

I nodded and pushed off of the door frame. I turned around and started to walk towards the exit when I was interrupted.

"Hello detective. You've been here a lot, haven't you?" A nurse I know is Micheal asked.

"Isn't your shift over? You were literally working last nights night shift." I said as I turned around.

"Lucky for you. You caught me on my way out." He smiled as he ran his bad across my bicep. Yay, lucky me.

"Well if you'll excuse me, I have business to conduct." I said as I walked away from him. Not before he grabbed my hand and turned me around.

"You should call me and we'll arrange a dinner or something." He smiled as I slowly dropped my hand from his.

Don't get me wrong. He's a great guy. And sure if I didn't date women then maybe he would have a shot. But I don't date men. So he doesn't. Actually, I just don't date in general.

"I'm straight Micheal. Sorry." I said as I walked away from him.
