Roxy pov
I woke up a lot later than I normally do. It was still early, but later than my normal time. Jaden had woken up and the movement in the bed caused me to stir.
I heard him get up and walk into the bathroom. I groaned and sat up. I stood up and walked downstairs. I went into the kitchen and turned the kettle on. I almost fucking shat myself when Jaden came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Oh my fucking god. You can't scare me like that." I groaned as he laughed.
"Good morning to you too." He mumbled I to my neck.
"No, no. We are not even entertaining the notion of a conversation until I've had a cup of coffee." I said as he chuckled and remained silent.
I rested my hands on his as I also leant my head on his. He lightly swayed us in the sea of silence we had created. Every time he exhaled, I felt his breath hit my neck, and every time he moves his head the tufts of hair that poked out tickled my skin.
"Alexa, play 'Giants' by Dermot Kennedy." I said as he let out a small, throaty chuckle.
"Playing 'Giants' by Dermot Kennedy, on Amazon Music." She recited back before the music started to play.
The music was quiet and created a peaceful atmosphere in the kitchen, which made a change from the usual busyness of it all. The kettle had finished boiling. I poured the water in the cups, but quickly retracted my left hand as a bit of hot water hit my finger.
"Ouch." I laughed as I shook my hand slightly to relieve the pain.
I continued to pour the coffee with my right hand as Jaden took my left hand and kissed my finger. I wasn't really paying attention to what he was doing until I felt something wet on my finger. I looked over to see my finger just sitting in his mouth as he tried to soothe the burn, which worked surprisingly well.
"I wondered where Jordan got that from." I laughed as he did too. "Come on you big baby, drink your coffee." I said as I handed him a cup.
He dropped my finger from his mouth and kissed my cheek as he took the cup from me. He still hasn't actually said anything since I told him to wait for my coffee. He watched me intently as I drank a bit of my coffee.
"Good morning Roxy." He said as I swallowed the coffee, causing me to laugh.
"Good morning Jaden." I said between laughs. "What time are we picking the girls up?" I asked as I drank a little more.
"You're picking them up at eleven." He said.
"Why just me?" I asked as he avoided eye contact with me, telling me it's something to do with work. "Jaden." I said sternly.
"I have to run into the station to do something." He shrugged as he walked upstairs with his coffee cup in hand.
I placed my cup down and followed him. I was actually pretty annoyed because it isn't the first time he's take time off of his leave to go back to work.
"You're on parental leave. Surely it can wait, no?" I asked as I walked into our room.
"Roxy, just leave it. Come on, things were so peaceful just a minute ago, why does it have to be ruined?" He asked as he held his hands up in defence.
"It has to be ruined because you prioritise your work over your girls. It's not the first fucking time either Jaden. You're supposed to stay home, not go back to work for hours on end as and when you choose." I said to him.
