Roxy pov (one month time skip)

The last few weeks have been busy. I finally got back to my full shifts, and almost all of my time has been taken up again. I had taken Leela's stitches out two weeks ago, and that was the last time I saw her. I saw Jaden here and there around the hospital, but I haven't been put on one of his cases in a while.

I was disturbed from my slumber from a sharp pain in my stomach. I sat up, holding my stomach. I walked out into my kitchen, ignoring that anguishing pain in my head. I poured myself a glass of water, and forced myself to eat a slice of bread and butter, even though my every instinct was telling me not to.

I'm hindsight, I probably should have listened to my instinct. If I had, then I wouldn't be hunched over the toilet, trying to throw up food that isn't in my system. After about ten minutes of just dry heaving, I stood up and washed my mouth out. I dried my face and looked at myself in the mirror. It was only then that I noticed the unopened box of tampons sat on my side. A box that would've been opened had I gotten my period this month.

"No. Please no." I whispered to myself as I rushed out of my bathroom.

I ran into my room and quickly threw on some clothes. I walked out of my room, got the dogs on their leashes, and walked out of my apartment, locking it behind me. I walked into the elevator. I know, it's finally fixed. And waited for it to get to the bottom floor. I quickly exited the building and walked the quickest way to the store.

I got to the store and took the dogs in, the store being one that allows dogs in on a short leash. I walked straight to the healthcare section. I picked up a few boxes, and put them in my basket. I then walked to the candy aisle, because why not? I quickly paid, and walked out with my bag wrapped around my hand.

I decided to walk back through the gardens, trying to calm my nerves. I know that the possibility of me not getting my period could just be down to the stress of getting back to normal after having almost two whole weeks off of no work at all. Same reasoning with the vomiting this morning, but to me, it just seems too coincidental.

I was getting a little impatient so instead of walking all the way around the path, and climb the stairs at the end of it in the direction of my apartment, I decided to just walk up the grassy area of the hill. The dogs were both walking beside me, playing with each other, and as we neared the top, I saw someone I didn't really want to see. Purely for the fact that he WILL stop me to have a conversation.

"Ro Ro!" Leela screamed when she saw me, earning the attention of Jaden who was crouched down, tying her shoelace. Fucking why Leela?

"Hello munchkin, how have you been?" I asked as I turned to her.

"We went to see Mickey Mouse and the Disney castle." She beamed as she ran over to me and hugged my legs.

"Did daddy take you to Disney world?" I laughed as I patted her back, not being able to bend down to hug her properly.

"He took me, and grammy, and grampy, and auntie Mallie and my cousin Ray." She said as she jumped up and down.

"Did you have fun?" I asked as she pulled away.

"It was so fun. Pepsi, Cream." She squealed as she ran over to the puppies.

I laughed as I watched her interact with them. I was brought out of watching her by a hand lightly gripping my chin. My head turned to be met with the blue eyes belonging to Jaden, the blue completely prominent due to the sun hitting his eyes directly.

"Has anyone ever told you your eyes shine when the light hits them?" I asked as he smiled a little.

"Has anyone ever told you that you're really good with kids?" He asked in retaliation to my question.

"You think?" I asked back to him.

"Yes, you're very good with kids. Especially her anyway, you'd be a great mother someday." He mumbled as he pulled me into a hug.

Someday.

"Well, I don't really see my maternal instincts as a positive." I admitted as he pulled away and looked at me.

"And why is that?" He asked crossing his arms over his chest, almost offended by what I had said.

"Woah, calm down, I didn't mean anything by that. All I was saying was that I'm not proud about the way I developed them. I don't necessarily enjoy remembering that." I explained as I reached my hand up to his arms to pull them back down. His face softened a little bit as his muscles relaxed.

"Well I guess there is that to it, but it's still a great skill set to have, regardless of how it was obtained." He said as he stood up straight as Leela came running and threw herself into his legs. "Jesus." He laughed as he held her to stop her from falling. "What've you got in there?" He asked as he saw the bag on my arm.

"Oh, my time of the month is coming back so I'm preparing." I laughed through my lie as he nodded.

"Daddy?"

"Oh please don't." He muttered under his breath as she continued to ask her question.

"What's a time of the month?" I heard him breathe out a faint "fuck" as he sighed and looked down at her.

"You'll understand when you're older baby." Is all he said to her as she nodded and sat on his foot, wrapping her arms and legs around his leg.

"As strange as that is," I giggled pointing at her, causing him to laugh too. "I've got to get back, so, I'll see you around." I smiled as I walked off.

"Bye Ro Ro." Leela shouted as she waved.

"See you later sweetheart." Jaden said as he waved to me as well.

I smiled and waved back before I turned and walked back to my apartment.
