Roxy pov (3 month time skip)
"Okay, are we ready to find out the gender of this baby?"
These last few months have been nothing but agony for me. While occasionally it has been fun, when both Jaden and Leela are out of the house, it's nothing but pure boredom.
I have now officially moved into his house due to him asking me be his girlfriend. I no longer sleep in the guest room, instead I sleep in his room with him. Ever since Jaden told her about the baby, Leela has tried her hardest to make minimal contact with me.
We've got two names already picked out, one for a boy and one for a girl. Depending on today, will decide the name. I'm hoping that once we have a name and a gender it will be a little bit easier for Leela to connect with the fact. I'm pretty sure she's still scared that she's going to lose her dad to the new baby.
I understand why she's scared. It's the basic psychology of the older child. Jaden finds it harder to understand why she is the way she is because he is the youngest. He only has one sister and brother and they are both older than him, so he's never had to experience that fear. But as an older child, I do know what it's like to have that fear.
"I guess so." I smiled at the nurse.
She ushered me to sit on the bed. I sat down and lifted my shirt for her to put the gel on.
Normally, the dad would be here too, but he had police business to deal with that apparently couldn't wait. After this I have to go and pick Leela up from school and I don't know how well that is going to go down.
I felt the nurse out the gel on my stomach. It was cold and slimy, a feeling I've never liked. She spread it round using the wand, and started searching for the baby. I looked up at the monitor when I heard it's little heartbeat going off. I smiled at the little bean shaped being on the screen and waited for the nurse to find the gender.
"Alright, I've recorded that heartbeat for you so you can take that home along with this little image of your little baby girl." She smiled as she turned the machine off.
"Did you say girl?" I said with a smile.
"Yes I did. Congratulations miss Hawthorne, you have a baby girl on the way." She grinned as she handed me the print out of the scan.
I took the scan and looked over it. I smiled and put it in my bag. I thanked the nurses and left the clinic. I got in my car and drove off to Leela's school. On the way there I plugged my phone into the aux cord and played the baby's heartbeat.
When I arrived at the school, I got out and walked to where Jaden said to pick her up from. He told me he spoke to her teacher this morning and she knows that I am picking Leela up. I saw her teacher and waved at her slightly, she waved back and turned around. When she turned back she had her hands on Leela's shoulder as she pointed me out.
"Hi Roxy." Leela said as she walked over to me. She doesn't call me Ro Ro anymore.
"Hey peanut. How was school?" I asked as I took her bag.
"It was fun." She said before walking off to the car.
We got in the car after I helped buckle her in the front seat. Jaden had given me her car seat this morning and I put it in the front, knowing she prefers it that way.
"Hey Lee Lee." I said when we turned onto the main road.
"Yeah?" She asked as she turned to me.
"Do you wanna hear the baby's heart beat?" I asked her.
She hesitated, but nodded her head. I smiled and connected my phone to the aux cord. I pulled up the file and played the sound of the baby's heartbeat. She looked amazed and smiled.
"Is that the baby?" She asked in shock.
"That's it's heartbeat." I said to her.
"Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?" She asked once the sound had stopped.
"What do you want it to be?" I asked her as we pulled up at the house.
"I don't know." She said as she skipped around the car and held my hand.
"Well, you'll have to wait and find out. Daddy gets to know first." I teased as we walked up to the house.
"Can we eat ice cream pleaseeeee?" She asked as she ran into the kitchen.
"Don't tell your dad." I laughed as I took the tub out of the freezer.
"Okay." She shrugged.
We both sat on the sofa and were watching Tangled as we ate our ice cream. Half way through the forest scene, Jaden walked through the door. He stopped in the entry of the living room, looked at the bowls ice cream in our hands and then looked between me and Leela. She looked at me with a cheeky smile before turning back to Jaden.
"It was Ro Ro's idea." She giggled as she pointed at me. My jaw dropped and I scoffed.
"Me? You sneaky child. You begged me." I argued as I laughed.
"Nuh uh." She said as she got up off the sofa, hugged Jaden's legs quickly and then ran off up the stairs.
His head followed her as she ran up and then he looked back to me. I smiled at him smugly as he rolled his eyes and shook his head playfully.
"She begged me." I argued as he laughed.
"That's when you say no to her." He said as he walked over and laid across the sofa, resting his head on my lap.
"Like you say no to her." I scoffed as he laughed.
He lifted my shirt slightly and kissed the small bump on my stomach. I ran my fingers through his hair as he sighed in content.
"Did you find out the gender?" He asked as he looked up at me.
"I did." I smirked as I looked down at him.
"And?" He asked, looking at me as if he wanted me to continue.
"And what?" I teased as he dropped his face to a bored expression.
"Can I know the gender of my own baby please?" He said as he looked up at me with hopeful eyes.
"You can." I said.
"May I know the gender of my baby please?" He asked, correcting himself.
"Maybe."
"Did you tell Leela?" He asked as he shot his head up.
"Nope." I laughed as he groaned and dropped his head back into my lap.
