"Great. Can you just take her please?" I asked, my voice cracking as I did so.
"What's going on baby?" She asked as she took Jordan and laid her down.
"She's really not okay mom. She's not talking to me anymore and it's gonna fucking kill her. She's not eating or sleeping. She keeps zoning out and crying randomly. She can't even feed Jordan because Jordan won't let Roxy touch her. She will scream and cry and kick about until Roxy either puts her down or I come and take her. She's not okay and I don't wanna fucking lose her." I ranted as I walked over and sat down on the floor so my head was level with Roxy's.
"It sounds like she's got postpartum, baby." She said as she sat down opposite me.
"What the fuck is that?" I asked, not looking at her, but instead looking at Roxy.
"It's something most people call 'baby blues' it's a type of depression parents feel once the baby is born. Jordan isn't bonding with her and it can have a lot of affects on her mental aspects. You need to get her to a hospital and get that sorted. She'll be okay I promise you." She explained.
"You think she needs to talk to a therapist?" I asked her as she looked at me.
"Well, it would probably be better. She's not talking to you because she probably feels that she shouldn't be feeling the way she does because you aren't. You're both new parents, for you it's again, and for her it's her first time. You know how to deal with babies, but she struggles with that aspect. What she doesn't understand is that you went through the exact same thing with Leela. Take her to a hospital and see what they say. They might just give you medication for her. It all depends." She explained as she stood up and walked out of the house with Jordan after putting her in her carrier.
I stood up and called an ambulance. I didn't care how much it would cost for me to do that, I didn't want to risk moving her myself.
When the ambulance turned up, they put her on the gurney and we drove off. On the way there, they were doing all kinds of tests on her and checking her vitals. Her blood pressure was high and her oxygen levels were dangerously low form where she was panicking, and so they put her on an oxygen mask.
When we got to the hospital, they wouldn't let me in the room while they ran tests. I was just sat waiting outside. I was worried about if she woke up, she'd be confused as to where she was and she'd try to get out. My phone ringing brought me out of my trance.
"Hello?" I asked in a tired voice.
"Hi daddy." I brightened up a little when I heard Leela's voice ring through my ears.
"Hello baby, you having fun at grammy's house?" I asked as I leant back in the chair.
"Yeah, we're having lots of fun. I fed the pigs and grandpa said we would be eating one of them, so I told him off. And now we're having chicken nuggets for dinner." She laughed.
"Grandpa is a silly one." I noticed one of the doctors had come out calling Roxy's name. "Look baby, I've got to go now, but I'll see you tomorrow okay?"
"Okay, bye daddy. Love you." She rushed.
"I love you too baby, bye bye." I said as I hung up.
I stood up and walked over to the nurse. She smiled at me and held her clipboard to her side. She quickly led me to Roxy's room and allowed for me to sit with her until she wakes up.
"How long have you two been married?" She asked as I ran my fingers over the ring on her left hand.
"We're not yet. We just had a baby so probably not for at least a year." I shrugged as she nodded.
"That would be why she looks so fat." She stated.
"Excuse me?" I asked in disbelief.
Mainly because she has no right to disrespect Roxy or her weight, but also because Roxy is pretty much just skin and bone at the moment. Her body is deteriorating because of how much pressure it's under.
"What? I didn't say anything that isn't true." She laughed.
"You shouldn't be commenting on the way other people look, especially if you don't know what's going on in their lives. Her body is beautiful and perfect just the way it is, and you need to keep your fucking mouth shut if a matter does not concern you."
Being a police officer comes with many perks. I gained myself access on the hospital database and started typing in the name on her tag 'Chloe Anderson'
"But you have to say that and think she pretty because you're her fiancé." She shrugged as she checked Roxy's vitals.
"Actually, no I don't. With the relationship we have, I don't have to do that because she doesn't like that. But let's talk about you for a minute. I'm sure your boss would love to hear how you've been disrespecting patients. Another report to add to the, what's that? Oh, 29 reports already given in. Here's a bit of insight for you, I'm police officer Jaden Hossler, and as soon as my name is on one of those reports, your entire career is over." I said as I turned my phone around to see every but if information the hospital has on her.
"You can't do that. This is my only job." She pleaded.
"Well then, you can start by getting us either Cassie Harlan on this or Peter Stephens. And then you can continue by not disrespecting patients and keeping any unnecessary or un needed comments to yourself. And third, for further reference please don't disrespect the head doctor of Saint Michaels Hospital." I said as I looked over at Roxy.
"She's Roxy Hawthorne?" She asked with a shocked look on her face.
"The one and only." I replied with a smug smile.
She walked out of the room with her mouth open.
