Interrogation time. I was sat in the Gryffindor common room on a sofa. Beside me were Sirius and Remus. In front of me, sat in an arm chair like it was his throne, was James. Peter sat by a little desk doing some last minute homework but he was watching intently. Here we go.

"Who was that boy?" James raised an eyebrow. They were being so dramatic, nothing with the marauders was ever basic.

"Just some Ravenclaw." I lied, really hoping it would work. I couldn't just admit I was with Sirius's brother. If anyone would see past my lies, it would be James.

James crossed his arms "Name?"

"I forgot. Jack something I think." I shrugged casually.

"How come you've never mentioned him." James was grilling me with questions here but Sirius butted in.

"More importantly, why we're you making out to Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy?! It's not exactly a song to make out to." Sirius shrugged and I tried not to laugh "I just thought I taught you better Y/n" he sighed in disappointment and leaned back against Moony on the sofa and put his feet on my lap. Remus kept quiet and chuckled to himself a little.

"The song just came on! We were dancing about and got a bit distracted. God James this is so dumb, I can kiss who I want." I laughed.

Remus grinned "She can't be all over the same person for five years unlike her brother now can she?" He teased.

James threw a cushion at him and I laughed "piss off!" He said but he was laughing. "Evans loves me I just know it, I'll wait for her."

"So I can stop being interrogated then?" I asked and James shook his head.

Remus sighed and face palmed, he seemed to know something I didn't.

"Y/n, let's go on a walk." James stood up, I rolled my eyes and walked with him, out of the common room and up to his dorm. Sirius frowned in confusion, clearly as in the dark as I was. You couldn't really gossip anywhere in the castle with portraits if you didn't want the whole school to know. He shut the door and cast a silencing spell "So I checked the map..."

Fuck.

"Why the hell were you snogging Regulus Black!?" James didn't sound angry, but he never did with anyone but Snivellus.

I quickly shook my head "No James it's not like that I swear! I was showing him Queen and then I heard the door click so I kissed him to hide his face. Then you stalked me on that map." I explained huridly.

I felt guilty, that was Sirius's brother who had stood by and watched him go through so much pain. Sirius brother who I was supposed to feel indifferent too. Sirius's brother that I couldn't get out my head.

"Sirius can't know." We both said in sync which made us laugh a little.

James nodded and ran a hand through his hair, it was a habit he had, always made it look messy like he just got off a broom. "But you can't be friends with him y/n. You know what he's part of, you'll just get hurt. And it's not fair on Sirius to do that without telling him. It puts me in a sticky position. Either I feel like I'm betraying my best friend or I betray you. It's best to avoid him."

"Yeah." I sighed "I know I'm sorry." I had been trying to ignore the fact that Regulus was still very much part of the House of Black. One of the pure blood families who supported Voldemort, this was bigger than rival friend groups at school. This was a war.

"And not to mention what Sirius would be like." James said quietly and I nodded again. "I don't care who you kiss. Kiss who you want whether that's a random Ravenclaw or bloody Marlene." He chuckled "just not Regulus Black." Marlene and I had a joke going for a while now that we were secretly dating, she had pretended to be my girlfriend when boys hit on me and vice versa.

I didn't say anything I just hugged him, he really was the best brother. So caring and understanding, but not controlling. I couldn't like Regulus, surely I didn't.

It was just a kiss it didn't mean anything.

Before dinner, I was on my way to the owlery to write home. While I was at Hogwarts I missed my parents so always kept them updated. Of course I wasn't able to leave the castle without seeing Reg and his friends.

"So the Halloween party-" I heard Barty say then stop as soon as he saw me. My friends and I had an invite to every party, except Slytherin ones. We weren't on good terms. When we hosted our own parties they were always the talk of the school, we had fireworks, the Gryffindor boldness and Sirius Black. Who wouldn't want to come?
A party? Interesting.

"Alright Potter?" Mulciber smirked and I tried to just walk past. I wasn't in the mood for this. "Ooh not very friendly. You're so frigid."

"That girl definitely isn't frigid." Barty crossed his arms and looked me up and down, I clenched my fists wanting to hit them all.

"Leave her alone." Regulus rolled his eyes which apparently stunned us all. "She's not worth it." He added on the end looking over at me like I was a stranger.

"Ooh Reggie's got a fwend." Barty laughed and teased him, not in the friendly way like with me and my friends. More in a genuinely spiteful way.

"Friends with her?" Reg raised his eyebrow and laughed a little "As if." Wow. That's how it was then. James was right, he was best avoided.

"Yeah, imagine." I agreed but I gave him a quick cold glance before walking off, my shoes making a noise on the stone with each step that echoed around the empty corridor.

I burst into the common room and plopped myself down on a sofa with Peter and James, Sirius was sat in an arm chair with his feet up and Remus was in his little reading spot with was a window near us with cushions on the windowsill. No one went there, it was Remus's spot.

"Alright boys." I grinned "We have a party to sneak in to."
