I shall refrain the gory postpartum details of the last few weeks but strangely, it was almost of on the happiest stages of my life. Reg came by frequently, spent the weekend staying round so that he could wake up in the night for the baby. He was being the best he could be and I knew I couldn't ask for someone better. The others had been doing lots of work with the Order and I had been completely out of action.
One random Tuesday after I had done the usual routine of taking care of Lucilla and then trying to find the time to get myself showered and fed, I went through the halls of Potter house to find James. The cold winter was thawing and I had the urge to do something other than motherly duties which usually meant sitting inside. Lucilla was asleep so I took my chance and went into James's room. "Let's go out flying." I smiled.
He looked up from where he was writing at his desk and pushed his glasses up his nose. The worry on his face could not hide the twinkle in his eye at the mention of flying. "Are you sure? You pushed out a whole human a few weeks ago."
"Yeah a few weeks ago." I shrugged. "I haven't flown in ages I miss it! Can't let you boys have all the fun now can I?" He grinned and quickly stood up grabbing his broom. I already had mine clutched in my hand, wearing my flying gear. It was strange not wearing Gryffindor quidditch gear instead I wore simply all black.
"I'll race you downstairs." He ran out of him room and hopped on his broom. Our mother didn't let us fly in the house but surely she wouldn't mind just this once. I laughed and hopped on my broom taking off after him down the stairs. Thank goodness for the high ceilings of the old house because it was a wonder that we didn't break anything.
"No brooms in the house!" My mother yelled at us as we zipped through the back door and we both laughed.
"I win!" James grinned once we were up in the air.
"Because you had a head start!" I laughed and could not wait a moment longer to zip around the garden. I had missed the feeling off my stomach dropping through my feet at a sharp take off, the wind in my hair as I watched the world below me become a speck. James and I flew loops around the garden until he called over to me.
"Watch this!" He stood up on his broom like a tightrope walker at the circus and flipped it under his feet like it was a skateboard.
I laughed and gave him a around of applause. "Be careful!" On the ground, I could see my father waving us down from the back door. He pressed his fingers to his lips and whistled for me. When we used to fly when we were younger, we would stay out all night if we could so my parents had to invent a way to get us back in that we could hear from the sky. He had a different whistle for me, James and then one that meant he wanted the both of us.
I sighed in disappointment at our flying session being cut short. "What on earth could it be?"
"I don't know, I'll come with you." James shrugged and we began our decent.
Once on the hard ground again, I walked back into the house with James at my side. "What's the matter?"
"There's a letter from Dumbledore for you." My father told me and handed it to me. I frowned in confusion and opened it.
To Miss Potter,
I hope you are well. We have matters to discuss so I would appreciate your presence in my office at Hogwarts today.
Regards, Albus Dumbledore.
PS. Chocolate Frogs."He wants me to go to Hogwarts." I frowned and stuffed the letter in my pocket. "We have matters to discuss apparently."
"Most powerful wizard of all time and he couldn't come here?" My dad frowned and gestured me to hand him the letter to read.
