A sigh of relief escaped me when Lucilla finally drifted to sleep. I had been rocking her, reading to her and stroking her head for the past hour and it had finally worked. I gently placed her in her crib beside my bed, Potter house had a nursery but I could never bear to have her so far away.

"Seven o'clock." I muttered looking at the small vintage gold watch on my wrist. She would wake up for feeding again at roughly twelve so I had to be quick about my business.

I pulled on a jacket and grabbed my wand and James's cloak before walking downstairs. "Are you off out darling?" My mum smiled over at me from behind her book as I passed the living room.

"I'm meeting Mary at the pub." I smiled. "I shouldn't be back too late... but don't bother waiting up for me."

"Alright send her my love."

"I will." I said and walked out the door. I had been attacking old copies of the daily prophet for the past week. When it happened, I couldn't bear to read what I had witnessed with my own eyes. But I needed names.

They had given me a few suspects however during my school years, many members of Slytherin house and I had never seen eye to eye so I didn't know where to find them. Nocturn Alley was the place to start.

The thing about Voldemorts followers was that they were like Vampires who walked among common people during the day and ravaged their victims at night often without a trace. Perhaps I should have become an auror.

Knockturn Alley was never somewhere I had spent much time, my parents had always steered me away from there when we did our back to school shopping.

"Decent folk don't go down there y/n, it's not somewhere you'd want to be."

My father had told me, a place like that was exactly what I needed.

Most of the shops were still open which was surprising during the time however I could see why people would only go in the dark. Down the Alley, I spotted Evangeline Blackthorn and Thaddeus Vane. They were on my list, the pair of them looked around as if they were up to no good and wanted to prying eyes before heading into Borkin and Burkes. I threw James's cloak over my shoulders, which used to trail along the floor but now I had to crouch slightly to keep myself entirely hidden as I followed them in the thick night. I managed to get so close I could almost catch their hushed tone.

It seemed like I was dishonouring my family name, using a cloak which used to be used for sneaking around the restricted section and planting dung bombs undetected for something much darker. James would never have dreamed of doing such a thing. But I was not James.

As the two left the shop, Evangeline Blackthorn's high heeled boots click clacked on the cobbled stone pavement. Her hair was as dark as her name and everything she stood for, her skin pale and her eyes such a deep brown they appeared almost black. She was older than me by a few years, familiar with Bellatrix and Narcissa in school. I had always done my best to steer clear of her.
Thaddeus Vane must have been in his early thirty's, he had a clean shaven face and silver blonde hair, probably as a result of hundreds of years of inbreeding with the Malfoys. He wore emerald green robes and had a stick with a skull on the handle. I scoffed at the sight of them, it was like they tried to look evil.

"This should hopefully get the dark Lords approval when we put it to the test." Evangeline smiled slyly and stashed her paper shopping back in her handbag. I dreaded to think what was in there.

Thaddeus looked around. I froze in fright and held my breath, praying the cloak kept me concealed. "As if what we did to the McKinnons wasn't enough." He whispered harshly. "He puts more trust in Regulus Black than us! He's a boy!"
