NICOLE'S POV
Each raindrop kissed my skin, tracing sweet paths that gives me feeling of more alive than any manmade high ever could. I feel my soul stir, the air electrified as it anticipates the quenching storm.
Each droplet felt the same because they sing of these such treasured memories, of the comforting moment with Ashley that remains and the hopes I hold for the future. And so, I love the rain better than photographs, for each one is a perfect moment.
(Thunder sound)
Suddenly I heard another deafening crack of thunder. This one so powerful my whole world trembled under the force of the storm.
"Ahh!" Followed by Ashley's scream.
Like a child, she ran for the security of my arm. Niyakap nya ako ng sobrang higpit. And at these moments, time stood still.
She was soaking wet but still warm, for the few hours I had spent peacefully hugging this doll. I wrapped my arms around her, tighter. Covering her small body.
"What were you thinking? You are grown adult frightened by a silly storm? You think my hug could actually protect you from something?" I chuckled. Trying to tease her.
Ashley tightened her arms around me. "I-I'm scared." Her voice shivered out of fear.
Until a storm produced another earth shattering crack and a blinding flash of light. The storm seemed to be collecting more and more energy with every minute that passed by.
"N-Nicole I'm scared!" Tarangang sigaw ni Ashley animo'y iiyak ang isang to.
"I'm here." I softly chuckled. Alam kong takot na takot sya, pero dahil sa yakap ko ay bahagya ko syang napapakalma. Yes, she may be an adult but hiding at someone's hug somehow made her feel less afraid.
"You are like a small bunny being chased by a Lion and finally reaches her hole." Biro ko dito.
Ashley pouted her lips, "And you think you are my hole?" She asked.
Hmm...
I lifted my hand and patted her head, "At this moment yes. I'm your hole Ash, I'm your safest place." I told her.
Pagkatapos kong sabihin ang bagay na yon ay nanlake ang mga mata ni Ashley. Animo'y nagulat sa sinabi ko pero sa huli ay yumuko sya at nuling sinubsob ang mukha nya sa chest ko.
"You are right I was a bunny, a bunny hiding from my hole. Protected from the vicious howl of the thunder and sharp teeth of the lightening." She said, this time crying.
And her sob made me realise the rain is cold. I didn't notice it earlier because my skin carries the heat of my blood, because my inner fires burn strong.
Damn.
I want to stay here with her a little longer pero dahil sa mga iyak nito alam kong hindi yon makakabuti sa kanya. Walang-wala sa isipan ko na takot ang isang to sa kidlat at kulog.
Yes she's a bunny. A bunny afraid of thunders but not a bunny afraid of lions.
"Let's go inside Ash. Baka magalit pa si Ethan kapag nakita nyang binibilad kita sa kulog at kidlat." Paliwanag ko sa kanya.
Dahil kung hindi sya takot sa lion pwes, takot na takot ako don.
