"Welcome to Perry's Paradise Resort. Don't worry about your bags—one of the robot bellhops will get them." The voice cut through our conversation like nails on glass—familiar, smug, and impossible to ignore. I stiffened slightly, already recognizing it before I even turned around. She'd introduced herself as the one owning the island again. If Davenport heard that, he'd probably throw a full-blown tantrum.
Although, who is she talking to...?
I turned slowly—and there they were.
Perry and Kerry!
Perry clapped her hands in that dramatic, entitled way, like someone who expected the world to sprint at her command. Right on cue, Adam bolted forward, diving behind a gray suitcase. He flopped onto it stomach-first and pushed off. "Ah, yeah—suitcase sled! Whoo-hoo!"
I barely registered it. My focus was locked elsewhere. "You remember my sweet niece, Kerry." Perry said with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
Sweet? All of us stiffened, glaring at the girl as memories resurfaced—none of them pleasant.
"No." Bree shot back instantly, crossing her arms. "But would your evil niece Kerry like to introduce herself to us?"
Kerry's expression flickered, but Perry didn't miss a beat. "She's staying for the weekend. Give her a room with a view. Here you go." She slipped something into Chase's hand. For a split second, my eyes widened—hopeful, even impressed.
Money? Hek yes.
But Chase's face dropped almost immediately. "This is money from a board game." he grumbled. Perry's smile only widened, leaning forward, poking his chest as his arm fell limply to his side. "And there's plenty more where that came from." I reached over and took the bills from his hand, inspecting them myself just to be sure. Fake. Completely useless. My grip tightened slightly as I lowered them, my gaze shifting back to Kerry.
"Don't worry, I won't be a bother. You won't even know I'm here." Kerry said sweetly. "I just want to spend some quality time with my favorite Auntie... Terry." She stepped closer, placing a gentle hand on Perry's shoulder. Behind her back, all of us gagged in unison, rolling our eyes so hard it almost hurt. "I have been accused of being fun... and of identity theft." Perry added with a casual shrug—like that was something to brag about.
We collectively ignored that as our attention snapped right back to the other Perry. "You're not fooling us, Kerry. You act all nice until your aunt's gone, and then you go off to trip roller skaters and sell ice packs to the injured." He let his imagination run wild—but honestly, I could picture her doing all of that. It wasn't exactly far-fetched but Perry gasped dramatically, clutching her chest like she'd just witnessed the ultimate betrayal. "My sweet niece would never do that. Everyone knows the roller rink is my turf." Her expression snapped as she turned to Kerry, teeth clenched so suddenly that both Kerry and I instinctively took a step back.
