Finally the part we've all been waiting forwell that I've been waiting for!

...

"AAAAAAAH!" someone screamed. I jolted upright in fright, and in my panic I yanked open the door of my capsule so hard that I toppled out of it. Groaning, I rubbed my eyes and blinked at the sight of Chase—still a blurry figure—bouncing excitedly beside Leo's sofa. "Guys, wake up! We did it! We did it! We did it!" he shouted, practically bouncing off the sofa. Adam shot awake too, stumbling out of his own capsule. "We were sleeping! We were sleeping! We were sleeping!" Leo yelled in frustration—rightfully so—jumping with every step as he mocked Chase, who was apparently very much awake already. "Chase, it's five-thirty in the morning. What's going on?" Bree asked, bleary-eyed, as we all trailed after him as Chase dashed past Leo, buzzing with excitement. "It took 5 years, but Mr. Davenport and I finally cracked it! We created a new technology that's gonna revolutionize the way that the world gets its energy." He paused dramatically, then let out a small, triumphant squeal. "Aaaaah!"

"Did he just wake us up to talk about science?" Adam muttered to me to which I shrugged, half-asleep. "All I heard was 'ahhh.'" I said, my voice still groggy, mocking Chase's excited yell without much enthusiasm. "I don't care where you hit him—just make it hurt." Bree grumbled as she turned back toward her capsule. "That I heard." I mumbled, still rubbing my eyes. Before she could climb back in, Chase sprinted out of the room again, shouting over his shoulder.

"Come on!"

...

"...I love you. I love you. I love you. I..." We all stared at Mr. Davenport, who was crouched down way too close to a glass cube, looking like he was about to make out with it. "Were you just talking to a glass cube?" Bree asked, staring at him like he'd finally lost it. "No." he said too quickly as he sprang to his feet. "I was talking to my reflection in a glass cube." We exchanged looks. That... did not make it any better. Chase nodded and stepped forward proudly, practically vibrating with excitement. "Here she is, the Davenchase energy transponder."

Leo and I leaned in, squinting at the small glowing object inside the cube. It wasn't much bigger than a fist, and pulsing faintly with a soft blue light. "That little thing is what you guys have been working on the past 5 years?" Adam pointed towards it as Chase nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah!"

Adam sighed dramatically. "Your genius is fading, young Chase!" Chase's smile deflated, meanwhile Leo stepped forward, waving a hand. "Yeah, if you think that's impressive, I've got a log cabin made of popsicle sticks that will blow your mind!"

"Don't wake me up for it, though." I muttered, giving his shoulder a quick pat. He nodded—either because he knew me too well or because he definitely didn't want to pull a 'Chase' and wake us up at five in the morning again.

"So, uh..." Bree stepped around the cube, eyeing it from every angle. "What does it do?" Chase lit up fully again, in his element, as if he was waiting for someone to ask him that question, with our dad nodding with each word. "It's kind of like Leo's transference ability. It wirelessly harnesses energy from sources around it, then stores it, so it's the ultimate power source."

"Oh cool, I've been looking for a new phone charger. Crack her open and juice me up." Adam grinned and pulled out a phone—Chase's phone.

"It's not a phone charger, Adam, it's a billion dollar piece of technology. This little device packs enough punch to power an entire skyscraper." Mr. Davenport corrected, slicing the air with his usual dramatic hand gestures. "So what'll that get me—like, fifteen hours of talk time?" Adam asked, sincerely confused. Our dad clenched his fists, trying very hard not to yell. "Right now, this is just a one-of-a-kind prototype."
