Life changes.

Aubrey

I have been taking care of the kids more. Ally is feeling a lot better but she seems different. Something isn’t right. I don’t know what to do. I want to talk to her about it and help but every time I try she gets upset. She is out today. I have to go back on tour for two weeks tomorrow. Our date night is tonight and I hope everything goes good.

“Aubrey?” She looks up at me with something in her mouth, “What do you have?” She looks at me and shakes her head. I bend down and put my hand out, “Give it to me.” She starts to shake her head but I raise my eyebrows and give her that look and she spits s piece of stuffing into my hand. “Where did you get this?” She pulls her toy bear around and I see he has a rip in it. “I will get this fixed but give it to me.” She looks at the bear then at me. “Aubrey.” She looks down but hands it to me. I stand up and walk into the kitchen and throw the bear away. I will pick her up a new one tonight.

I walk back into the living room and see Aiden trying to walk. “Almost.” He falls on his butt and looks up at me. I can tell he is getting mad that he can’t get it. He is getting a lot better. He will have it any time. He has got the standing and taking a step or two, he just can’t stay balanced enough to walk more than a step or two.

I sit down and am handed a doll. I smile at Aubrey. “Of course I will play dolls with you princess.” I lean over and kiss her. Aiden crawls over to my lap and gets into it. He sits there and watches what we are doing. He reaches for the doll everyone once and a while. Aubrey smiles, “Here Aweden.” I smile, “You are getting better with her name.” She smiles. Aiden holds the doll and looks at it. He then sticks its head in his mouth. I laugh and watch him pull it back out and make a funny face. “Yeah that probably didn’t taste good.” He looks at me then puts her arm in his mouth and starts to drool. I laugh and wipe the drool, “You are so funny. You are just like me.” Aubrey moves closer rubbing her eyes. “Me?” I smile and wrap an arm around her should pulling her into me. “Yeah Princess, you are like me too.” She smiles wide at me. “I you.” I laugh and nod, “Yeah princess.” She leans against me and closes her eyes. I smile and lean back against the couch. Aubrey falls asleep with her head on my leg and Aiden falls asleep in my lap.

I hear the door open about a half hour later. I move my head and see Hanna walk in. “Sorry. I know I’m early.” I put a finger to my mouth and her mouth makes an o as she comes around into the living room and sees the kids asleep on me. She smiles and pulls out her phone. I hear my phone ding and she smiles as she puts her phone back in her bag. “It was so cute. I figured you would want the picture.” I smile, “Thanks Hanna.” She looks at the kids then at me, “Do you want help putting them to bed or…?” I smile, “It’s fine. Just relax and watch some television or something. I am content and so are they.” She nods and sits on the couch and pulls out a book. I laugh and turn towards the tv to watch some cartoon. I must admit the cartoon is not half bad though.

The kids got up and were hungry. Hanna went to make something to eat for them. Once the kids were fed and cleaned up I got to go get ready. I got out of the shower and was trying to figure out what to wear when I hear a high pitched scream. It’s not a scream of anger or upset, it’s a hurt scream. I race down the stairs taking them two and three at  a time. I run the corner sliding into the living room to see Hanna holding Aubrey. “What happened?” She shrugs, “I… I don’t know. I was picking Aiden up and then she screamed and.” I see red coming through the fingers of Hanna and cuss. “Stay here.” I take the stairs three at a time and throw on boxers and a shirt. I am putting pants on as I run down the stairs. I run back into the living room and pick Aubrey up in my arms. “Stay here with Aiden.” I grab my keys and phone and rush to my car. Putting her in her car seat I run to my side of the car and literally jump in and start the car and pull out quickly. I start racing to the hospital. I know I am at least going 15 if not 25 over the speed limit.

I pull up to the hospital and get out leaving the door open. I swing Aubrey’s door open and get her out. I rush into the hospital. “Help me.” A nurse comes around the desk, “What happened?” I shrug, “I don’t know. Just help her.” The nurse looks behind me and sees my car. She looks at me and Aubrey. “Give me her and park your car quick.” I nod and rush out and park it in the first spot I find I don’t care if I get a fine or anything. I’m parked. I run across the parking lot back into the hospital and see the nurse holding a crying Aubrey. We rush down the hallway with a doctor and are put in a room. The doctor starts looking at her head as I hold her in my arms. “She needs stitches. This is a bad cut.” I nod and watch him turn to the nurse and tell her what he needs. Aubrey is crying a painful screaming cry. It is killing me to hear her like this. The nurse comes back and the doctor looks at me with sympathy, “You may have to hold her tight.” I nod and he looks at the nurse. He bends down to Aubrey’s level. “What’s her name?” I look at him, “Aubrey.” He nods and looks at her, “Aubrey sweetie. You got a booboo. I am going to fix it okay?” Aubrey nods as she cries. He starts to stitch her up and she moves some so I have to hold her close.

Finally the doctor is done and he places everything to the side of him. He looks at me, “She’s done.” I nod and he looks at Aubrey, “You were a very big girl. You deserve a treat.” The nurse smiles and hands Aubrey a teddy bear and a sticker. Aubrey puts the sticker on her shirt. She is still slightly crying but mostly now its just a scared cry. She feels her head and looks at me upset. The doctor smiles, “I forgot the band aid my bad.” He puts a pink smiley faced band aid on her. She smiles slightly at me and I smile back at her. I kiss her head. “Anything else?” Doctor smiles and shakes his head, “Just sign some forms and you can go.” I nod and watch him leave. The nurse hands me everything. Aubrey makes me hold her as I fill out the papers and sign everything.

I am done and the nurse smiles and waves bye to Aubrey. We walk out the door with her legs wrapped around me and her arms around my neck. I put her in her car seat and get in the drivers seat. I do have a ticket on my window but I don’t care. I throw it in the cup holder. I look down and realize I must of looked like a crazy person. My hair is sticking up everywhere where I toweled it after I was done with the shower. I am in a pair of jeans with a muscle shirt. Lastly I have no shoes on, I only have on one sock. I shake my head and look in the mirror to see a sleeping Aubrey. Starting the car I back out and head home feeling glad that my daughter is okay.
