Life changes.

Sleeping. Scared

I hear beeping. I start to open my eyes but end up keeping them closed. I hear a voice talking, "Please wake up." I feel my sheet get wet. I hear the voice again and realize it is Ally. "Please wake up Austin. Please." I lay there for a moment and think about why she would want me to wake up when I am finally getting some sleep. Why does she sound so sad? "I think I came up with names for the babies." I listen more and wait to see what names she came up with. "I think Asher and Adam sound good. I could see them growing into those names." I let the names sink in and decide that maybe they do sound good. I guess I could also see a little Adam and Asher running around with Aiden and Aubrey. "Please wake up. Please wake up Austin. I need you." I am right here. I am just sleeping. She sounds so sad. I don't want to hear her so sad. I will wake up from my great sleep to help her with whatever she needs me for.

I open my eyes to the bright light and groan. I feel movement and see Ally sit up and stare at me. She has tears running down her face. "Why are you crying?" She wipes at her eyes some but its not use. "You are in the hospital." I shake my head and yawn, "No I'm not. I am at home. I was sleeping. What did you need me for?" She shakes her head, "Austin you were in a car accident. You are in the hospital." I hear the beeping and look over to see machines. I look down and see my arm in a cast and I'm in a hospital gown. I then realize for the first time the pain I am in. I groan and rub at my head, "What happened?" I watch her shrug, "I don't know. You said you were going to get coffee and then I got a call saying you were in an accident and were being brought here." I sigh and lean back against the pillow. I watch her stay quiet and just cry.

I lift my arm and smile, "Come here." She looks at me and then lays next to me as I move over to let her have some room on the bed. I wrap my arm around her and kiss her head. "Don't cry sweetie." She has a arm slung over my stomach and her head is laying on my chest. I feel my gown wetting as her tears fall onto my gown. I kiss her head and run my fingers through her hair. "It's okay. I'm okay sweetie. Don't cry. You shouldn't get upset sweetie." She nods. I hear her start to hiccup like Aubrey does after she cries. "Shh. It's okay sweetie. Calm down, you don't need to be upset. Think about the babies." She nods and looks up at me. "I love you Austin." I smile and kiss her head, "Calm down sweetie. I am okay. I am not going anywhere." She nods and lays back down as she works on calming down. I rub my hand up and down her arm. I kiss her hair, "And I love you too Ally." I hear a soft snore and smile. At least she is calmed down.

I lean back and just hold her. I watch her sleep and I can tell how worried and upset she got. I never meant to upset her. I just meant to get coffee. I look down at her and smile at how she has one hand on her stomach and her other arm slung across my stomach.

I don't know how long I have been laying here with her. I see the door open and turn to look at it. I see a doctor walk in and he steps back when he sees me awake. "Your awake." I put a finger to my mouth and look down at Ally. I look back up and he nods and lowers his voice, "Of course. I am sorry." He comes over and puts his hand out for me to shake. "I am Doctor Robertson. I have been checking on you all throughout the night. I was just about to go home and told her I would check on you before I did. I was worried you wouldn't wake up. I am so happy you did." I nod and smile. "So how are you feeling?" I look at him, "My head is killing me." He nods, "I will get you something for that. Anything else?" I shake my head. He looks down at Ally, "Does she need anything to calm her down or help her sleep?" I shake my head, "She seems fine now but thank you." He nods, "I will have a nurse bring you something for your head. I am going home now. I will be back in the morning. Get some sleep Mr. Moon." I nod and watch him walk out of the door.

A few minutes later a nurse walks in and smiles when she sees Ally asleep. "Here you go." I take the medicine and smile, "Thank you." She nods, "If either one of you need anything just let us know." I smile, "Thank you." I watch her walk out the door and look down at Ally and smile. I kiss her hair and close my eyes.

I wake up and look at Ally. She is groaning slightly. I rub her arm. "Ally sweetie?" She moves a little bit. I shake her some, "Ally sweetie. Wake up." I watch her move and open her eyes. "Austin?" I rub her arm, "Shh. I'm right here." She sits up some and looks at me. "I'm sorry I woke you up Austin." I smile and shake my head, "It's okay. You didn't wake me up sweetie." She leans back down on me and yawns. "How are you feeling?" I shrug, "Not bad." She nods and lays back down and groans. "They are kicking like crazy." I laugh and place my hand on her stomach, "Calm down little guys. We are both okay. Let your mom get some sleep." I start to feel the kicks lessen and then they stop. I smile at her and she laughs. She lays her head back down on my chest with a yawn.

I move my hand and wrap my arm around her and hold her. "Oh Ally?" she mumbles letting me know she hears me. "Asher and Adam sound good for names." She sits up and smiles, "You heard me." I smile, "I heard you say there names and asking me to get up because you needed me." She smiles, "You like those names." I smile and nod, "Yeah I think they sound good together and I can imagine a little Adam and Asher running around with Aiden and Aubrey." She smiles and kisses my cheek. "I thought so too." With another yawn I get her to lay down and get some more sleep.

I wake up to movement. I look down and see Ally trying to get up without disturbing me. I laugh and she turns to me. "I'm sorry I woke you up." I smile and shake my head, "Let me help." I move my arm from around her and help her sit up where she can kick her legs off the bed and get up. "Its easier if you get help. You wont chance getting hurt that way." She laughs and stretches. "I just needed to use the bathroom." She walks to the bathroom and a few minutes later she is back and goes to sit in the chair but I open my arm and she curls back in bed with me. I wrap my arm around her as I sit up some. She turns to me and places a small touch to my face. "How did this happen Austin?"

I look at her and sigh. "I was driving to get the coffee. I remember being not that far from the coffee shop. I remember getting tired all of a sudden and yawning. I remember thinking I wasn't that far and soon I could have caffeine to wake me up. Then next thing I know I woke up here." I watch her shocked face. "You fell asleep while driving." She starts to get worked up. I rub her arm, "Calm down. Shh. It's okay. Calm down." She shakes her head. "You have to start taking better care of yourself. I know you love you children. I know you would do anything for them but you have to start taking care of yourself first." I watch her eyes tear up and I nod and kiss her cheek. "I know sweetie I will. Calm down. Breathe." I watch her start to breathe and I count with her as I get her to calm down. "I know. I promise I will start sleeping better. We will work with Aubrey and Aiden and just get a better schedule and way of doing things." She nods and leans against me. "I was scared Austin." I kiss her cheek. "I know. It's okay. I'm here. Don't worry I am not going anywhere." I watch her relax and fall asleep against me.
