Life changes.

Careful.

I wake up in my bed. I turn a little and see a soft light turned on. Blinking my eyes I look around and see Austin sitting up in bed holding Aiden in his arms.  I sit up a little and see Aubrey lying with her head in Austin’s lap. He has one hand petting her hair. I smile and try to sit up more, groaning in the process. Austin’s head snaps to me and he smiles softly, “Hey.” “Hi.” He puts Aiden down beside Aubrey and uses his arm to help me sit up better. Once situated he moves his hand away and pecks my lips. “Did you sleep okay?” I nod, “Yeah, What about you?” He laughs, “I was exhausted, but yeah I slept great being back here with you and the kids.” I smile and look down at my beautiful children. “How did I get up here?” He laughs and picks Aiden back up, “I went downstairs and saw you asleep on the couch and Alex asleep in the chair. I figured I should bring you up here. I moved the chair back so that Alex was sleeping better and brought you up and put you to bed. When the kids woke up I fed them and they wanted you, so I brought them in here to be with you.” I smile and watch as my two babies sleep peacefully.

Austin smiles at me, “You look like you are feeling better.” I smile at him, “I do feel better. I feel more like myself thanks to the bath.” Austin nods, “I’m sorry I didn’t do it sweetie. I was so tired.” I nod, “I understand.” He looks down at the kids then at me, “Everything went okay then?” I nod, “Of course.” He looks at me, “Why didn’t you come back to bed?” I shrug, “I wanted to watch television and get out of this bedroom and feel normal.” He lays back a little, “I understand, I have been where you have been, remember?” I nod and look at him, “Yes, I could never forget.” He leans over and kisses me. “I love you Ally.” “I love you too Austin.” I lay back down and watch my daughter curled up in her father’s lap.

I most of fallen asleep because I wake up to Aubrey kissing my cheek. I open my eyes and stare at her, “Sweetie?” She smiles, “Mommy.” She looks me over then back to my face, “Mommy hurt?” I nod, “Yes baby.” She kisses the side of my face where the bruise is and slowly moves so she can kiss my cast. “All bwetter.” I smile, “Thank you baby.” She looks at me, “I sleep with you?” I nod, “Yes baby, you can sleep with me.” I move my arm and she slowly curls up to me without touching my side and not laying on me. “Love you mommy.” I smile and kiss her head, “I love you too sweetie. How are you feeling?” She smiles, “Sweepy.” I smile and kiss her head as I watch her eyes close and she holds onto my arm.  I love to Austin and see him sitting up sleeping with a sleeping Aiden in his arms. Shaking my head I look down at my baby. She is being so careful not to touch me. She is amazing and she and her brother are my life.

I am downstairs waiting for the pizza to arrive. I am on the couch and feeling slightly better. Austin brought me down after I woke up this morning. Alex is packing up his stuff from the guest room. He decided to leave today since Austin is back. He stayed last night because he fell asleep. Austin is in the music room doing something. Aubrey is playing with her toys and running around the house. Aiden is in his rocker out cold.

Sighing I look at the television and watch whatever is on. I hate lying on this couch and not being able to do anything. I hear the doorbell ring through the house. I look towards the door and hear footsteps and look back to see Austin walking down the hallway. He smiles at me while walking to get the food. I hear mumbles and then the door close. Austin walks into the kitchen and comes back with a plate of pizza. He smiles and sits it on the table. He helps me sit up more and then hands me my plate. “I will be back with a drink.” I nod and watch him go back into the kitchen. A few minutes later he comes back with a plate of cut up pizza for Aubrey. Sitting it on the living room table for Aubrey she smiles and sits down and starts to eat. I hear footsteps and see Alex, “Pizza’s here?” I nod and Aubrey smiles wide and starts to mumble with pizza in her mouth. Sighing I look at her, “Aubrey don’t talk with food in your mouth.” She shuts her mouth and starts to chew. Alex laughs and ruffles Aubrey’s hair before going into the kitchen. He comes back with a plate of pizza for him and a drink for him and Aubrey. Austin comes in last with a drink for me and him along with his pizza. Alex sits in the chair and Austin lifts my legs a little and sits on the other side of the couch. Alex changes the channel to cartoons for Aubrey.

After I am done eating Austin takes my plate as he goes to get more pizza for him and I lie back against my pillow and watch this cute cartoon about friends and being nice. I must have fallen asleep because next thing I know Aubrey is touching my arm. “Mommy?” I smile and turn my head to her, “Yes sweetie.” She looks at me, “You okay?” I smile and nod, “Yes baby, I am fine just sleepy from getting hurt.” I hear an aggravated and exhausted Austin, “Aubrey I told you, don’t go near mommy.” I hear footsteps moving and hear Aiden crying and realize Aiden is not happy. Aubrey looks down then back up at me, “Sworry.” I smile, “It’s okay baby.” She grabs my good arm and hugs it. “Aubrey, sweetie, I told you be careful around your mommy, she is hurt.” Aubrey looks up at me then at Alex. I smile and look at him, “It’s fine. She was worried about me.” Alex drops his bag on the floor and comes over and looks at Aubrey, “You’re just too cute to yell at.” She smiles that famous smirk of Austin’s and hugs my arm tighter. Alex looks worried as I gasp a little. He catches my eye and I shake my head telling him I am fine. “Aubrey it is time for your nap.” She looks at me and holds onto my arm tighter. “No leave.” I smile and look at him as he looks between us confused. “Aubrey how about you let Alex make you a bed right here on the floor beside the couch. You will be right here with me.” She looks at me then nods, “Okay.”

Alex goes and gets her favorite doll and pillow and makes her a little bed. She holds my hand as she lies down and falls asleep. Alex leans down to kiss her head, “Be careful with mommy.” She nods, “I will.” Soon her breathing evens out and she is fast asleep. “I will be leaving soon, anything you need.” I shake my head, “Nah, I can’t really do anything.” He sits on the arm of the couch, “How about I go get some movies or books for you.” I shake my head. He smiles, “I have an idea, what about some crafts.” I laugh and shake my head, “I am okay Alex, really.” He nods, “I am going to check on Aiden and Austin.” I hear footsteps and look at the television.

I hear movements and then I hear a loud sigh. I look up and see Austin, “He would not sleep.” I smile, “Did you sing to him?” Austin slaps his forehead. “I didn’t even think about that.” Shaking his head he sits in the chair and closes his eyes and rubs his temples. I look down at Aubrey and take my hand away and put it under the blanket I am covered with. Aubrey starts to whimper and look for my hand so I put it back down over the couch and she grabs it and holds on content. I smile and Austin looks at us then shakes his head, “I don’t her to leave you alone.” I look at him, “It’s fine Austin. She is just worried about me. She is bothering me or hurting me.” He leans back in the chair and closes his eyes. Alex comes in and smiles, “He is asleep.” Austin nods in the chair and rubs his temples. “I am going to go, call me if either of you need anything.” Austin nods again and leans back the chair so it reclines. He leans over and kisses my forehead. “Take it easy and be careful.” I smile and nod, “I will.” He grabs his bag from the floor and walks out the door. I hear his jeep start and pull away.

Leaning against my pillow and pulling the blanket up some, I get comfy. I let everything disappear as I close my eyes and realize I have at least two weeks of having to be careful and taking it easy.  Alex gave me my pill with my pizza so the pain is gone.  With Aubrey holding on to my arm for dear life I let sleep take over.
