Ch.207 The Captain's Birthday

Emma and Killian have been very busy tending to Hope's ear infection and tending to Leia. Emma and Killian took Leia to her 4-month appointment with Allison and Henry stayed home with Hope. Killian carried Leia's car seat into the hospital as Emma carried the diaper bag. He knew his two loves needed him. "Swan, Hope is feeling better."

"The ear drops are helping her."

"Aye, we also have been keeping her ears dry. With those sticky things.."

"They are called earplugs."

"Aye earplugs."

They arrived at the pediatric floor. "Leia, we are visiting Auntie Allison at work." She scooped her daughter in her arms and signed Leia in. Killian sets the diaper bag and car seat onto the floor. Emma sits next to her husband with Leia on her lap cooing. Emma smiles. "Yes, Dada is with us."
"Hi, Leia." He smiles and continues to coo at his littlest pirate princess. He tickles her belly which made her laugh. Emma and Killian smile at their daughter, her first laugh. "Her first laugh."

"Yes, you made her laugh, Killian." She smiles at her husband.

"Leia Swan-Jones, room 1."

Emma carried Hope as Killian carried the diaper bag and the car seat to the examination room. She undresses Leia, who was flipping to her belly. "Leia, you are going to be naked for a little while. Auntie Allison is going to tell us how big you are getting." She scooped her daughter in her arms and gave her raspberries on her belly making Leia smile.

Allison enters the room. "Hi, Emma, Killian."

"Hi, Allison."

"How is Hope?"

"She is feeling better than last week. We kept her from preschool."

"Aye, the earplugs, does that mean she needs to wear them at her swimming lessons?"

"Yes, Killian. With earplugs, Hope can go in the water for her swim lessons." Allison faces Leia. "Hi, little niece." Allison holds Leia and weighs her, 12 pounds. "Leia, you are so big, little niece." She examines her heart and lungs with her stethoscope. "Her lungs are clear and her heartbeat is normal." She checks her goddaughter's ears. "Leia!" She faces her auntie. "Her hearing is normal." Leia coos.

"She is being such a good girl." Allison gets the shots ready. Emma sees the shots. "Oh no, the bad part."

"Aye, the bloody needles."

"She is getting 4 shots today. The Retrovirus, DTaP, polio and influenza shots."

Emma set Leia on her lap. "Leia, you are with Mommy, baby girl." Leia coos.

Allison gave her goddaughter her 4 shots, one on each arm and each leg. "I am sorry, Leia. You need these." Leia was wailing. Emma held Leia on her chest and hugged her, hating seeing her daughter in pain. "The owies are over, Leia. You are staying with Mommy."

Killian wrapped Leia in her baby blankie and let his swan comfort their daughter. "It is all over, Leia. Shh...shh..." Killian helped Emma changed Leia back into her clothes. She held Leia on her chest, as Killian paid their co-pay. "Shh...shh...you are okay, baby girl."

Meanwhile, Henry took Hope out to swan lake park since Hope is in less ear pain. They walked around and fed the ducks bread. "Henwy?"

"Yes, Hope?"

"In Mommy and youws stowy."

"What about Mommy and me story?"

"Mommy was sad when you went away as a baby?"

"Yes, she was because she was in prison."

"Not her cwime."

"Yes, my Daddy told the police it was her crime. She had me in prison hospital, with no job, and wanted me to have best chance, not in the foster system."
