✧BOARD ROOM MEETING✧

◊━━━━━✥━━━━━◊

***

Anxiety racked her the entirety of breakfast that morning. She couldn't tell Alphard that her excitement on sitting in a meeting had fallen flat, but her appointment with the healer was starting to creep up on her as well.

Her husband was speaking about the meeting, though still oblivious that she was nervous—Perhaps she was getting better at hiding her emotions?

Probably not, Sirius said it was too easy to get a read.

"...I hope today isn't too boring for you. It tends to drag on at times." She peeked up from her gaze down to her plate and nodded. "Being bored is the last thing from my mind, I'll be fine. Though I think I'll bring my notebook with me to my appointment so I don't have to come back for it."

"Plan on taking notes?"

"Perhaps I'll play your assistant for the day, wouldn't that be hilarious?" Alphard's eyes had gotten wide within the moment, and Rhea had to retain her laughter in seeing him agree to something so silently and quickly.

"I take it you don't have an assistant?"
"Of course I do, but he's not as beautiful as my wife. That's for certain...I find that witches tend to be too flirtatious, and it turns into a distraction to the rest of my company." That had caused Rhea's brows to rise.

"Does it now?"

"I don't mean myself, it's just more productive without a woman in the office." Rhea didn't know how to respond to that, was it odd to think that Alphard was perhaps a little sexist

"You only work with men?"

"Yes. All ages too." There was a small level of disappointment in Rhea's expression that she had to diminish it with a smile. "Suppose a woman can't do that type of business, can they?"

Alphard's lips parted, realizing that this was perhaps a little too straightforward and convoluted that his record of thinking seems to be outdated.

"Witches are just as capable, but most don't seek employment in the business world."

"No, they wouldn't...Because they know it's likely that an unqualified wizards has more of a chance than one that has background. It's the way the world works." Again, there was a sense of disappointment, but a record of understanding that she knew this was all wrong but a bigger topic than most would admit.

"In my day, the Slytherin house didn't allow witches on their team. Witches will overcome it just as they did." Rhea's shoulders fell once more.

"Slytherin still doesn't allow witches to play."

"No...That cannot be. It's—"

"It is. So I guess we're not as advanced as we should be." Rhea had taken her napkin up to her lips and pushed her chair back. "I should get ready...I'll see you at work." She offered a smile but he caught that it certainly didn't meet her eyes, and so he pulled her close for a moment. Both lost for words usually meant that they settled for a kiss and thus she smiled again—But this time it was much more lively.

"Don't work too hard, we'll go out to eat afterwards." That was a grand idea that he wasn't sure why he hadn't thought of it himself. So he nodded, encasing her hand in his to bring up to his lips.

In departing, both were separated by duty—Alphard among his colleagues and future investments, while Rhea had sat with a specialist among the rest of the witches of her generation of older.
