✧A LONG-AWAITED CHAT✧

◊━━━━━✥━━━━━◊

***

Alphard never liked the Malfoys.
Not during his youth, at Hogwarts, or anytime after.
They always seemed to leave a bad taste in his mouth, and it wasn't a rumor that he didn't favor the marriage of his youngest niece to the current Malfoy heir.

But it wasn't until Narcissa had come out directly and told her Uncle that she adored Lucius, and there was little Alphard could do following. As he favored true feelings in a relationship over the hardly platonic pairing that he had the honor of witnessing.

"Always the guest and never the groom," Walburga used to say, and no harm to his niece, but he hadn't attended that wedding. Nor had he gone to Bellatrix's—Though he wasn't sure if he was thankful, as Rhea would've hardly been in her fifth year if he was doing his math right.

The only wedding he had made the effort to attend was Andromeda. The little affair was mostly Teddy's family, and he wasn't sure if Rhea knew this, but their future daughter would not be the first he walked down the aisle to their future husband.

No, he was honored to be asked, and he knew how much it meant to Andy for him to be there. To support her—And he was rewarded greatly for all her help with Rhea.

Yet now, as he glared at the obnoxious bird that always seemed to be patrolling the Malfoy grounds, he found his way inside. Granted, he wasn't opposed to punting the damned thing across the gardens.

He was a rich man, but even he couldn't dignify that purchase.

As he walked through the fine and eery halls of the Malfoy manor, he smirked at how easy it was to get in. Even his manor was well protected with spells and enchantments, though the whole instance of needing to get them revised had escaped him, Alphard truly couldn't even feel any barriers.

What sort of joke was this?

"Uncle?" A voice called out, and his eyes landed on Narcissa. The woman smiled up brightly and hurried to give him a hug and an adoring kiss. He had apologized for not attending her wedding, and whether she cared or not didn't show.

She was simply surprised by his unwarranted appearance, though he knew that hug was anything but faked.

"It is good to see you Narcissa, but I have a bit of awful news...Is your husband in?" Her eyes flared with alarm before she nodded and hurried to escort him to her husband's study—And Merlin have him, if it could get any more bland and undefined.

At least Grimmuald Place had character, this was pristine to a new level.

"Ah, Alfie...How are you doing—?"
"Cut the bullshite, Lucius. Where is he?" The wizard had risen from his chair with a tilted head, confused as to what he meant—And in other instances, he would flaunt all that he knew and how, but this was not the time.

"Who are you referring to, Alfie?"
"I don't recall being as close as we were, it's Alphard. And perhaps on a good day you can call me Mister Black. Where is the one you call 'Lord'?" Narcissa had foolishly remained idle behind her Uncle, but her face hardened as she realized she had no business in hearing about matters such as this.

"What could you possibly—"
"That is between him and I. Unless of course he's elsewhere. But with recent events and easy-to-gather context clues, where else would he be?" If Lucius denied him, then it was simply a matter of going to Rolf for a visit earlier. But no matter, the Malfoy was just like his father.
Easy to bend and no less built with the backbone.
