✧AN UNFORGIVING HOLIDAY PT.2✧

Thankfully, it continued right into breakfast, for Rhea nibbled on her toast and fruit. Trying to settle her stomach and stop it from twisting every time she thought of tonight.

Sure, she was looking forward to seeing what Alphard had gotten her as a gift, or see his reaction to opening her own gift. But goodness, she couldn't get a grip!

"Love, I'm sorry, did you want a hangover tonic? I didn't even think of asking—"

"I took one. Don't think it's managed to do the job, though." She mumbled, turning away from looking down at her plate—Only for Alphard to rest the back of his hand against her forehead.

"Hm, you are a bit warm. Perhaps in a bit you could take a pepper-up potion." Funny enough, feeling awful seemed like the perfect excuse. Maybe Corin was right, owling in sick would be the best course of action.

And it was up to Alphard if he wanted to go or not, and she had a feeling that he wouldn't want her to stay home alone.

"I've had my fair share of colds, Alphard. This isn't it." She flinched, and thus she had pushed away her plate and curled further into her seat to nurse her tea as if she was sitting on the couch.

It was rather informal, sure, but right now she hadn't a care. Not when it was just her husband.

But her action had spoke louder than she thought it would, as Alphard had turned to look at her every now and again, but she seemed to have drifted off into another world with the way her eyes seemed to shift every so lightly.

His first explanation was that he had done something wrong, as usually, Rhea was very good at diagnosing herself with a cold or allergy symptom. Here, she hardly battened an eye in his concern—Making him wonder if there was something more than what she was speaking of.

Yet all Rhea could think of is how dumb she felt, for not seeing it earlier. Of course Alphard wouldn't want children with her, and the spiral only worsened when she excused herself to rest.

Within the next hour, Alphard was attempting to think back to the party last night. Had he failed to act accordingly? Usually he would supply the cigars and whiskey, making him the life of the party for the husbands.

Had he neglected his wife?

It wasn't until lunch that he caught that his little wife looked utterly worse than before, and he didn't hesitate to bring her back upstairs, nearly forced her to take a pepper-up potion and sip a bit of broth.

"You make a wonderful nurse, Alphard. But I promise I'm alright...I think I drank too much last night, and my menstrual cycle is coming soon." The mere mention of the word had caused him to sigh.

"Damnit, I thought I managed to get it down pat. Has it come early?" She shook her head and held onto his hand to press down onto her lower stomach. "Just a bit of pain here. Perhaps it was the stress of the product. Haven't been able to enjoy it properly."
"We can celebrate tonight. Wouldn't that be lovely? Orion, you and myself could have a small toast at the get-together." Rhea knew he was trying to make tonight sound as magical as the former, but in no circumstance would it possibly be as grand.

Even as safe as last night proved to be, it wasn't at all inviting to attend. Had she known what Walburga and Durella were planning, then perhaps she would've stuck to Corin or another one of her friend's side.

Even now, she couldn't understand how to make things better. Would it always be like this until the very end?

In the event that Rhea had taken a short nap, Alphard had remained dutifully by her side in the chance that she needed him. Which was rather sweet given the fact that she could've asked an elf to fetch things.
