HAYLEY

I walk into the house, and the smell of food hits my nose. There are so many types of scents in this house, it is hard to place where or to whom they belong too.

Harrison carries my suitcase and heads straight to the back of the door. We all head to the guest house. Once he opens the door, it has all changed since I was here last, five years ago.

When I came for my father's funeral, I never came back to the house. I just went to the service in the church and we ended up back at the pack house for the wake. Everyone was there, well, not everyone.

I look at the room. There was a big massive king-size bed in the middle of the room and to the side were two doors. I head to the one door and open it; it was a walk-in closet. I closed the door and walked over to the other door. When I opened it, I was stunned to see a bathroom. The bath was huge and placed in the middle of the room while there were hooks placed at the side to hold towels. I walk around the bathroom, amazed. The windows were frosted so no one could see in and there was a hidden door, which was the toilet. Everything about this guest house was made to feel warm and cozy.

I walked out of the bathroom, but Harrison had already gone back to the party. My mother was by the door, ready to leave.

She looks over her shoulder and smiles. "Hope you like it here," she says. "Dad built it all about two years ago, now you get fresher up and then come back inside the house for some fun. I bet Summer will be here soon and Alpha Jacob."

I smile. "I will see you in a few, Mum," I say, but felt a little sad that a name wasn't mentioned, even though I don't know how I would react if I saw him again.

She smiles at me and heads out the door, closing it behind her.

I can't help but sigh.

This guest house is amazing and stunning. I could finally tell that my father's detail went into all the work.

I grab my suitcase and place what little I had into the huge closet.

I took my toiletries and placed them in the bathroom. My mum had left four huge towels in here.

I checked my phone; I had a message from him. I smiled at it and sent a quick reply back.

I walked back into the room and decided to change my outfit for the night; I bought four new dresses for this party. I thought, what the hell; I might as well look good while I was here.

I grabbed the green dress I bought; it was fitted and was a one-shoulder dress. It highlights my tanned skin. I look at my hair and spray some dry shampoo into the roots, letting the blonde with some brown hair flow; I can wash my hair tomorrow. I grab a pair of silver heels to make the dress stand out.

I didn't apply any makeup as I already got some on; I planned my whole outfit for tonight, so I didn't have to do much when I got here.

I take a quick last look at myself in the mirror and head to the back door; I bump into Aunt Jackie, who is already on the whisky.

She smiles at me. "Well, I never thought you would be here," she says, pulling me into a hug.

Aunt Jackie is my mum's sister; mum said she has been staying here with her since dad died.

Actually, come to think about it, Aunt Jackie might be the one who wanted to throw this party in the first place. Aunt Jackie's mate died seven years ago, and she has been on her own ever since.

"I'm here. Mum asked me to come," I say as I get out of the hold she had me in.

She smiles, she takes in my appearance, and whistles. "Damn Hayley, you look so gorgeous. The sun really has been good to you," she says as she makes me twirl around for me.

I laugh. "Thanks, I love it," I say. "It's so nice to have the sun on my skin every day."

She smiles. "Well, let's get you a drink, shall we?" she says.

Before I can even say anything to her, she drags me off to where the drinks are. Aunt Jackie looks around the bar, muttering to herself. "Ah, I will make you my famous cocktail," she says.

Hell no!

I can't have one of them; they make my nose and mouth feel like it's on fire.

"Um, Jackie, I might have one after. I will just have a rum and coke," I say to her.

She looks at me. "You sure? We can start early with the cocktails. We both know you like my cocktails," she says with a grin on her face.

If she is on about the last time I had one, my head was down the toilet for the first night and I wasn't right for three days after the party finished and that happened on the first night, the second day, and the night I was in bed trying not to throw up anymore.

"No, I'm sure. But I will have one later," I say, praying that she doesn't figure out that I'm lying.

She looks at me. "I will hold you to that," she says as she hands me my rum and coke.

I look around the room and a few pack members are already here. Some are singing to whatever song is on and others are nibbling at the food that is left out.

"I will see you later Hayley, I want to talk to a man about a dolphin," says Aunt Jackie as she heads to a group of men on the other side of the room.

What the hell is she on about? A dolphin?

I assume it is a figure of speech, but with Aunt Jackie, you can never tell.

I look around the room and find Harrison. He is sitting on a bar stool near the stairs.

I walk over, and he smiles as he sees me come to him. "So you got your drink?" he says. I nod.

"Aunt Jackie cornered me. She was going to make her famous cocktail for me but I told her I would have one later," I say, and he grins. "Ah, her famous cocktails, the one that made you sick for three days and you couldn't get out of bed."

"That's the one," I say, and he chuckles.

"I wonder what stunt she is going to pull this year," he says.

I was about to answer him, but the doorbell rang out.

I can see the door; my mother was heading to open it.

Suddenly I am hit with an amazing intoxicating pine smell. I look towards the door as my mother opens it wider and there is Summer and Alpha Jacob but that's not who has courted my eye; he has definitely changed since high school. He is a lot bigger and his muscles are huge. He looks hot. But he is standing next to a woman. She's gorgeous.

"MATE," shouts Raina in my head. "MATE OVER THERE, GO TO MATE"

Theo Saunders is my mate.

This can't be happening. I turn around on my heel and walk back into the kitchen. I can hear Harrison calling out to me as I leave.

I need to get out of the room. I need air.
