In which the Dark Prince brings the twisting fires while the Spirit of Flame brings the enclosing shadows in a powerful and... Intriguing Bey battle.
(Hyde x Shu, both aged up to eighteen. I didn't really know what I was doing here, I just wanted to make something of an idea I had, and then I ended up far too pleased with the results.
And keep in mind I still suck at writing Bey battles, so don't expect a lot from this one.)

No matter how lightly he stepped, Shu's footfalls still echoed deafeningly through the bleak halls of the Dread Tower. Fubuki's just as much so, lending to the unease of both Bladers. They frequently exchanged glances and silent discussions of the situation.
Where do you think we'll find Aiger and Kiyama? Fubuki's worried eyes would ask, and Shu could only bite his lip in answer. He didn't know. This place was a labyrinth to those unfamiliar, endless and frightening.
Not to mention, it was riddled with traps and trickery, making every step far more frightening than the last- how long until their luck ran out and a trap was sprung on them?
... As they approached a doorway leading into pitch black, it seemed that the answer was just beyond arm's reach.
"Maybe we should turn back," Fubuki whispered, but his mentor only shook his head.
"This is the only way forward. We've tried all other paths, this is the one that's taken us farthest."
"Then- then what do we do?"
"I'll go ahead alone and check to make sure its safe. If any traps spring, Spryzen and I can handle it." I hope.
"What?! Shu, no! That's too dangerous!" The younger Blader protested immediately, then the other turned to face him.
"I know, but this is all we can do. I refuse to put you in any danger, not when I know it can be avoided."
"But I refuse to let you walk into danger! It's either the both of us or none at all!"
"Fubuki," Shu said, his voice stern and eyes sharp. "Trust me on this, okay?"
The blond frowned deeply, but all he could do was relent with a nod. To ease the sting, Shu offered a warm smile and briefly laid his hand on Fubuki's shoulder. Wordlessly, he then turned and stepped through the doorway, entering the darkness with Spryzen clutched in his hand.
The moment he was clear of the doorway, a slab of bricks and mortar dropped down into place with a thunderous slam. The beast Blader immediately leapt back with his back pressed to the door, poised to launch Spryzen and fight whatever horrible trap had activated.
But instead, the darkness was swept away by rows of torches along the walls roaring to life, illuminating a stadium suspended in midair by two twisting Bey rails backed by stone. Standing in the shadows underneath was...
"Hyde. You've finally decided to show your face off the screen," Shu hissed, red eyes narrowing warily as the other Blader grinned.
"But of course I have! How could I not when graced by the presence of the Spirit of Flame?" Hyde replied, manic with glee and excitement. "One of the most powerful Bladers in the world has stepped onto my stage, nothing would please me more than to be a good host and say hello, ha HA!"
"Given the look of things, I assume you intend to do more than just say hello."
Hyde glanced at the stadium overhead with a sly chuckle. "Obviously. Only a fool would let the chance to battle you slip by. I want to sink my teeth into you and Turbo Spryzen to see what you're really made of!"
